For all those that wanted to know...

And for those that don’t-- here you go

The Screemer officially got engaged over the Christmas holiday. First, the sad. My plans were almost put on hold, because her grandma is very very close to passing away. If she had died Christmas Eve or during the night (a very real possibility), I would have held off and not done it. I told her Dad this, and he agreed to call us ASAP. (Not that he wouldn’t anyway, but he now had a second reason. Neither of us wanted her to associate the two events.)

Anyway, the good… fortunately I didn’t have to. We went to her dad and step-mom’s the 23rd, and I formally asked her Dad while we were down there. Let me tell you, this is the most nervous I believe I have ever been. He is by no means a mean guy or anything. It just made me extremely nervous to ask him. But I did it…

So then we came back home Christmas Eve and we exchanged our gifts. She got a bunch of “normal” stuff. And things were happy. She then went to finish a blanket she was working on for her mom. I took the stockings and snuck the ring into hers and hung them back up. (She was in another room as I did this, I turned on the Nintendo so she’d think I was playing Monkey Ball.)

The next morning we woke up and after a couple of minutes I say, “You think Santa came?” She says, “Maybe…” sarcastically. I say, “Lets go look.” We go out and of course nothing new…she says, “I guess not.” I go up to my stocking (I had filled my stocking back up with the candy she put in there.) and I say, “Mine’s got stuff in it.” She goes, “Thats your candy your idiot.” I go, “No seriously, check yours out?”

She feels it, and feels the box, and suddenly gets a quizzical look on her face and she says, “There IS something in there?” I go, “HE CAME! HE REALLY CAME!” She reaches in and pulls out the box, opens it up and her jaw hits the floor. Total surprise! So, then she looks at me all stunned, and I pop the question. Then she gets all mushy and stuff…

So, now the Screemer is engaged. It went about as well as it could go, especially considering the fiasco surrounding getting the ring. (Which is a whole other story… )

Thank you to all of you out there who wished me good thoughts. I promised the story, so here it is! I hope it fills some of you with post-holiday cheer.

Gratz Screeme!

COGRATS! Glad it all went so well!

That should have been “congrats”.

I was so excited I typoed.

Sometimes I feel like a cog-rat.

Woohoo on the engagement!

Awww, that’s sweet, congratulations! (And do post the ring-getting story in another thread, that sounds interesting too!)

What a romantic you are, Screeme.

Sounds like your beloved is a lucky girl.
