For all you guys coping with freezing snows about now...

You guys keep that crap in Melbourne, and I’ll stay in Sydney thanks.

Might check on my father in law though, make sure he’s ok in the heat. Hasn’t been well lately.

How are you getting on Aspidistra? I see the temp’s up to 43 again this afternoon. And the train system seems to be melting right on cue.

Well, we’re planning our move to colder climes with renewed vigour. There is NO way that I am doing another Adelaide summer.

This time next year, expect me to be going ‘neener neener’ from Hobart! (Where today’s expected maximum is 25; less than our overnight minimum.)

Fortunately I’m on Kid Duty today (paid work again tomorrow), so I don’t have to be anywhere particular.

This afternoon, the girls and I had a big shower bath to cool down. I’m standing in the shower getting wet, when the Taller Girl (five) comes up and puts her hands on my belly.

“I love you mum”

(awwwww)

“Even though you are fatter than I expected”

(:eek::eek::eek:)

Cheeky monkey!

I hate the hot too! That’s why I moved from AZ (temps in the 110-120s–highest I experienced was 122) as soon as I could and now am reveling in the winter wonder land that is Cleveland. I ADORE the weather we are having right now. We got about a foot of snow today and I swear I had my nose pressed against the window most of the day. When it stopped snowing I actually said “awwww…” because I was hoping for more. HOORAY FOR SNOW!!!

ETA: I grew up with a swamp cooler and no air conditioning for most of the 25 years that I lived in the desert. Hell with that! If I never saw another day over 70F I’d be a happy woman.

It’s tropical. Rarely deviates between highs of 28 and 33 C. Currently at 5.30 pm, it’s 27.

Ooooohhh, 110F . . . IT GETS THAT HOT IN MY REFRIGERATOR IN MARCH! GET OFF MY LAWN!

Were you in Phoenix for the summer of 1990? I lived there and man did that summer suck. Gah!!!

Very, very warm if certain of our Christian brethren are to be taken at their word.

It’s 11.15pm, in the bush (no buildings around to retain the ambient heat) and the air temp is still 29c. And the bugs…my GOD, the flying critters are just going completely mental.

Please Mr God, can you send some apocalyptic snow down south please, we would all be much appreciative, thanks.

PS, some rain would do nicely as well of course, but if you can’t spare any cold/wet stuff, can you deliver some aerosol cans of bug-spray? Thanks again.

Cheers

kambuckta

PPS…Mr God, the supermarket in town is closed now, and I’ve run out of fly-spray, swatters AND patience. The bugs are driving me fucking crazy. Please send some diazepam instead.

PPPS…The Diazepam didn’t work…do you have any lightnening bolts that kills moths and bugs and mozzies by any chance?

Try the Hills. 5C cooler on average than on the plains. Course, in this weather that makes it a breezy 39C…

The forecast says 40C every day up until next Thursday.

Holy guacamole, that was a horrible night to sleep through!

If you can call it sleep.

Minneapolis hasn’t gotten up to 0C this month. It hasn’t really gotten close and most days are a lot colder. I get really sick of being blasted with cold every time I step outside.

For me, heat registers as sometimes uncomfortable, but cold registers more like actual pain. So, I’ll take uncomfortable over pain anytime.

In the Bay Area, it is a nice 70 F, but it got down to shudder 35 at night a few days ago. Like pretty much always. I don’t even know why they have weather reports here - going from a high of 70 to a high of 68 over the week is a cooling trend.

I’ll let you know when I’m ready to sell my house. :stuck_out_tongue:

You can start organizing the necktie party now.

I am getting a little tired of sub zero temps, but I can always add another sweater, or layer or turn up the heat. You can only get “so naked” in heat like that. And bugs…forget it!
At least most of the bugs are dead or dormant in Wisconsin for 4 or 6 months of the year.

CAT: that is exactly what I tell people. I can always add more layers or set something on fire. You can take off everything and be totally naked, and you’re still hot, plus you get arrested.

I’ll also add that being a little too cold and doing something snuggly warm to warm up (like getting under a blanket, or sitting in front of a fire) is a more comfortable sensation to me than being hot and gross and trying to cool off (like by standing in front of an air conditioner or fan). By a factor of a million.

I hope I never again have to live in a climate that doesn’t have cold winters. Snow is my favorite thing that can happen outside.

I’m the opposite. I’m wearing underclothes, long johns, fleece jacket and winter coat. I feel heavy and bogged down. I don’t want to wear 30 pounds of “snuggly.” I want to be hot and wearing a pair of shorts. I’d much rather spritz a little water on myself and turn on a fan than walk around feeling like Jabba the Hut and burning through $200/month in heating bills.

I also hate sweating. It’s gross. It makes me feel gross.

Exactly. I can’t stand the heat, and when you add in the damned Mid-Atlantic humidity, it’s sheer torture.
I like snuggling up in a warm blanket by the fire.
