Oh, and I know you were kidding, but don’t denigrate Farley’s death as ersatz-drama. That sequence of strips can still make me cry.
we have a whole year of strips to get thru - a lot can happen in that time
Well, on the FBOFW site in the “Meet the Pattersons” section on Elizabeth, it says
So I think the situation with Warren has been pretty much settled.
Well, I still think that Warren guy is a bit of a prick - I mean, he doesn’t contact her for a year, suddenly he does at Christmas, then gets all weird when he sees her in the arms of another guy? What did he expect, that Liz would still be available? That seems to be what the strip is inferring.
Personally, I quite like the Liz-Wright storyline - finally Liz is getting a bit of a decent love life!
I didn’t read it as Warren being weird, just surprised. After all, he had no way of knowing, he and Liz never spoke about it, probably because they hadn’t spoken in months. On the flight home, he’ll ask her about it, she’ll reveal the seriousness of the relationship and they’ll agree to be friends. Worse than a stalker is a guy who thinks he has a relationship with a gal he never sees
Warren’s reaction is ambiguous until tomorrow’s strip (probably Monday, actually…Sunday strips (in general, not just FBoFW) are notorious for having nothing to do with continuity). I don’t quite know how to read it myself.
Lawrence - not part of the family.
Anthony - not part of the family.
Liz - almost is not a true tragedy.
Elly - a fifty-year-old woman finds out that not everybody in the whole wide world is a cuddly bunny. :smack:
There’s as much tragedy in FBoFW as there was in Peanuts. Less, if you argue for Schulz’s existential tragedy.
It’s Lynn’s world and she’s entitled to a sunny view of life. She can’t make herself write any real darkness into the picture, and I’m positive her fans would never stand for it. That’s neither good nor bad, just factual. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
… and then Warren says “You can walk the rest of the way home, bitch!” at 8,000 feet …
I’ll put fifty quatloos on the constable.
She found that out when their property was vandalized.
Hell, I’m wondering how Anthony’ll reply to this…
Crying and wimpering like a big ol’ baby.
Not much sympathy for Anthony’s potential reaction here, either. He made his (really bad) choices, and his expectation that Liz would just pick up where they left off five years ago strikes me as a really stupid assumption.
That’s it? We were on the verge of a duel, and then abruptly cut to “So how’s the pilot?” — “Oh, he likes me a lot!”? Or perhaps we’ll get a flashback, the way Elly described the powwow in flashback?
or maybe Liz and Deanna or Liz and Elly or Liz and April will talk about Liz’ love life this week.
Or we’ll have to wait til after New Year’s when Liz goes back to teaching.
BTW - my georgraphy sucks - where is it exactly that Liz is teaching? Middle Canada? West Canada? North Canada?
According to Lynn Johnston, Mtigwaki is in northern Ontario.
That was pretty weak.
Thank god. Maybe this will make everyone forget my Duke is Dead debacle.
You could with Airwolf, but you had to hit it in just the right spot.
Well, we now (Wednesday) seem to have a better insight into Lizardbreath’s feelings about the two.
