Oh. Thanks for the info, jayjay.
Several weeks ago, Jim’s wife was told, “Your husband has the mind of a child.” Now he’s thinking in complex sentences; the difficulty is that he can’t talk. Not to mention the fact that she demanded to be able to take him home, despite the medical staff telling her that he wasn’t ready and they didn’t think she could care for him on her own. Whatever.
Also, can any lawyers help out on this? Would Liz even know that “there’s a problem with one of the witnesses,” much less the nature of it? And should she be chit-chatting with another witness while they wait to be called? And is it plausible for someone to get subpoenaed, get to the courthouse, be called to testify, and then bust out with, “I can’t testify against the defendant; we’re related!”?
And the funny thing is, since Lynn Johnston is already reverting to the fifties in a lot of ways, she could have taken this opportunity to pay homage to Anatomy of a Murder. Anyone see that? Lee Remick was raped, her husband murdered the guy she said did it, he goes on trial, the defense claims Remick was totally asking for it, they used technical terms which got a lot of people bent out of shape, and finally a young woman takes the stands with damning evidence. “How do you know so much about him?”
“Barney Quill [sob]…was my father.”
But, like last summer’s assault, this whole trial is just the framework for Liz and Anthony realizing their true love for each other. No drama in the courtroom.
What’s the deal with that chick Ellie’s manager fired for stealing? I haven’t seen that one in ages.
I don’t recall it being her manager – it was one of the workers who was around Liz’s age, IIRC.
The worker, Kortney, was Liz’s age, but it was the manager, Moira, who is Elly’s age, who fired her when Elly was on vacation. As for what happened to her, well, she was fired and got another job. What’s interesting is that she was fired for pilfering, forgery and slacking, not for threatening April, the boss’s kid.
To be fair, though, who of us hasn’t wanted to threaten April?
I’m just praying that Liz doesn’t end up with Anthony. She could do so much better than him. What about Constable Paul? He’s hot (which Anthony isn’t), self-confident (which Anthony isn’t), and has good judgement (which Anthony doesn’t)
That’s right!
Argh, I misread Monty’s post. I thought he was talking about Moira, not Kortney :smack:
But it would be just like Lynn to have them end up together. This is, as The Comic Curmudgeon says, FOOBville
Not to go overboard with the kudos for the Curmudgeon (Oh hell, why not? BEST COMICSTRIP-ORIENTED WEBSITE EVAH!!!), but I can’t resist quoting frequent-poster dramashoes’ comment from this afternoon…
“That last panel fills me with an overwhelming urge to pluck out Anthony’s eyeballs with a pair of needle nose pliers, then defecate in his eye sockets and burn his moustache off with a 2000 watt soldering gun. I suspect there is perhaps something wrong with my brain.”
