For Christians: Have you ever prayed real hard for other gods to reveal themselves?

Referencing this thread, and the hundreds of times I’ve been told that God would come into my life if I sincerely prayed for it to happen.
Have those of you that self-identify as Christian ever seriously tried to contact other deities?

As a Christian at one time yes

Which one?

Satan for one, I was asking if he was ever willing to do anything good that Satan could do this for me now (which was to get me warm when I was very cold as a child).

How old were you, and were you a Christian at that time?

I would estimate 8-12 IDK, yes I considered myself a Christian then

No! I’m scared of other Gods, especially Crom. Also those Lovecraftian Gods. I stay under their radar.

Are you a Christian?

A Catholic … does that count?

In my book, anyone that thinks that they are a Christian counts as a Christian. I believe a previous thread on that subject showed that there was no consensus on the matter.

Obligatory theme music

So that’s what that piece of music is called!

Seriously, though-Is there a difference between a Christian telling a non-believer to pray real hard and their god will “come into his/her life”, and telling a Christian to pray real hard to other gods so that they might have other deities come into their lives? Why is the former more acceptable than the latter?

As a child who was raised Christian, I prayed to Satan once. Seemed to have about the same effect as praying to Jesus – that is to say, none whatsoever.

On the other hand, I’ve long been free of the religious yoke, so maybe my prayer was answered after all.

Seemingly, Xtians don’t want to be told to pray to Mithra, and Pagans, or Atheists, take your pick, resent the suggestion to call upon Yahwe. How do you quantify which bit of advice is more or less acceptable … and, acceptable by whom? Seems to me, no one likes being told what to do by folks who disagree with them.

I at least got hot water out of the deal, you were gypped

But was it worth the cost of your soul? The plumbing in my apartment building sucks balls, but when you consider the alternative…

Not a christian: why limit your query to that particular religion ? Do muslims pray to Buddha ? Do Hasidic jews pray to Papa Legba ? do hindus pray to the Horned God and his consort ?
If people feel their framework is best, that necessarily excludes other frameworks of understanding. So far one can only drive one car at a time.

“I’ll pray for you.”
“Thanks! I’ll dance naked around the bonfire for you.”

As a neopagan, I’ve prayed to Jesus, but got the answer, “You know those other tribes the Bible speaks of? Those are your people, not my followers. Be well, and thanks for calling.” Nice guy.

This sounds like that one Fire+Ice song I always listen to when I’m high.

“Dragons In The Sunset,” is its name.

I made it about 2 minutes in. I don’t think I’ve ever been high enough to listen to the whole thing.
