I have been hearing of lots of, lets just say, funny business when it comes to democrats and the upcomming election. I’m sure lots of right wingers who are following the issues feel the same way. What I want to know is people who consider themselves on the left or for that matter straight down the middle - do you feel there are a lot of antics on the democratic side this election? What about antics on the right? Do you think it’s really an issue?
Now I can understand how this can be taken as a troll but it’s not and I have tried to phrase the OP to be somewhat removed. The real reason is I am doing this as a reality check for myself. I want to know how others view this issue or non-issue.
I am asking do you feel that there are more, if not outright fraud, then some antics that should be fraud in this upcoming election coming from the left, right?
I am only asking those who are left of center or dead center.
I’m left of center. If there is any outright election fraud going on, I am unaware of it. I think that the both Democrats and Republicans are equally capable of masterminding a project though.
I would like to see candidates have to swear an oath before they campaign. They must swear to tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. If they lie about their own records or the records of their opponents, they should be charged with a felony.
I voted early this year. When I was in the voting booth, I noticed that I was not being allowed to vote in the State Congressional District that I lived in, but voting in another district was available to me. I called that to the attention of an official and had to start all over again. I’m sure that it was just an irregularity and not fraud. But I wonder how many people had the same thing happen to them and not notice it.
I have delt with this via email - by dealing with this here it would change the tone of the OP.
With the posts so far I can see that this does not seem an issue - really nothing out of the ordinary for most of you (I know it’s a small sample size). I suspected as much but wanted proof.
Another (possibly rigged) vote for “this is the first I’ve heard on the subject.”
I recall hearing a clip of an interview (before the 2000 election) with an RNC bigwig. He said there was a nationwide plan in place to push the idea after the election that whoever won the popular vote should be President, no matter what the electoral college count happened to be. (I wonder whatever happened to that?) It’s just possible that your local politicoes are doing a similar bit of “pre-spin” in case the election doesn’t go their way. After all, it couldn’t possibly be that the voters really preferred that Democrat, could it?
Otherwise, as Zoe said, both parties are equally capable of some chicanery—and in the long run they probably cancel each other out.
(Oh, and for the record: I am left of center, but only by a couple of points on the compass. Which makes me a “rabid liberal” to some of my acquaintances, as well as most of my family.)
I didn’t want examples posted in this thread UncleBill (btw that republican fraud is 2 yrs old - I’m talking about this election)
Again the purpose was to get an idea how others feel (as I know how I feel) about possible fraud as a reality check for myself. Basically do they feel there is more then in previous election. I left out examples because it would have swayed the OP over to defending or accusing.
I have no doubt that either party is capable of commiting fraud and I’m sure both have done it and have gotten away with it.
My cites originally were for the furthering of the knowledge of ITR champion, Bryan Ekers, Zoe, and OttoDaFe, who apparently were not aware that voter fraud was currently being covered in mainstream news. So as not to appear Anti-South-Dakota-Democrat, I also included other examples I found through simple googling, which prompted the other cites.
