For everloving sweet jumping Jesus [Canadian convoy related]

I hang over on Reddit. Today, on r/conservative this piece of crap:

Cartoon of a mountie on horse with bloody hooves.

Horses really hate stepping on people [or anything that isn’t good solid footing] You know how much training it took to get a warhorse to step on people instead of jumping over them? I seriously doubt that any unit of mounties had the several years it takes to properly train a warhorse - my dressage beauty took 2 years to just get reasonably competent, and he wouldn’t have stepped on anybody,

Not even going to bother making up a different account to comment, my normal account has been banned from r/conservatives for using actual documentation to disprove whatever whacked idea they had come up with [a couple years ago] about Benghazi.

Why do you put yourself through that? I can’t deal with the aggravation, and there’s no solution anyway.

AFAIK, No Mountie has trampled a truckhadist and drawn blood to date . . . sadly.

The Conservative Lie Machine is out in full force these days.

The thing that frightens me about this stuff is that they are so brainwashed that you could never convince them of the truth, regardless of the quality and quantity of evidence. They will just declare that it is more liberal propaganda.

Gotta confess I’d love to see a team of Lipizzaners do caprioles at the convoy crowd.

Isn’t it supposed to be a metaphor? I don’t hang out in those subs, but I can’t imagine that anyone is taking such images literally.

I thought the same thing, that Canadian authorities were “trampling” the rights of protesters.

It’s essentially a political cartoon.

ETA: Some people in the linked Reddit thread are taking it literally though:

When horses were used to defend the border due to the uneven terrain the left attacked them claiming they were whipping them. Even when that was debunked they moved the goalposts and claimed using horses at all is racist and inhumane.

Now they’re trampling an old indigenous woman and they’re silent.

Imagine how proud those RCMP lads feel after killing civilians under orders from a turncoat like JT. Maybe they knew the CCP was only a call away if the civilians decided to fight back.

I don’t think the image was meant literally, but that’s too nuanced for some of that crowd.

Metaphor for what? I mean, I get that nobody is seriously suggesting that Canadian Mounted Police were literally and physically trampling antivax “trucker” protestors into a bloody pulp with the hooves of their mounts.

But obviously the creator and disseminators of the cartoon are seriously suggesting that Canadian LEOs have been brutally and violently inflicting physical damage on the protestors. Which is complete bullshit. (Especially, as others have already pointed out, in the light of the real physical damage inflicted on non-right-wing protestors in Canada on other occasions.)

If all you mean, or all you think the promoters of that cartoon mean, is that the gory-hooved Mountie is supposed to represent how the protestors feel about perfectly reasonable law enforcement measures taken against them (along the lines of “waaaahhh they towed my truuuuuuck!!”), then all I can say is:

What a bunch of entitled butthurt pissant little snowflakes. If you set out to do large-scale nation-disrupting civil disobedience (especially in illegal and even criminal forms), then you need to accept that there may be reasonable legal consequences. And suffering those consequences doesn’t put you on a par with the victims of, e.g., Bull Connor or Pol fucking Pot as objects of real violent repression by tyrannical government.

Pretty much sums up my reaction to anything the right does these days.

Okay, there is a belief that Mounties trampled and killed protestors.

It’s bullshit, but they really believe it.

Here’s a tweet that’s supposed to show it:

You see a couple people who got knocked over and people claiming they were trampled, but it doesn’t look like they were. They just got knocked over because they were dumb enough to try to stop a horse.

I’ve said it elsewhere but (with the exception of a couple of well-deserved horse episodes and pepper sprayings) I have experienced similar levels of appalling abuse while riding in a standing-room-only bus and at a few metal concerts. I feel so, so oppressed.

Yep. Some of the wildly angry snowflakes who I’m still connected to via social media have been complaining both via meme and their own words about the “violent dictator Trudeau”.

These are the same people who scream about the CDC, WHO, FDA, “the media” and “fact checkers” all being funded by the pharmaceutical industry (and presumably all doctors out there are willing for-profit vultures or too stupid to know they are puppets). The same people who ask whether “I am allowed to take off my mask to smoke my free crack pipe”. The same people who think “covid psychos” are killing kids by requiring vaccinations, and that school health directors have no business overriding parents’ authority over their kids’ health care (or lack thereof).

They are angry, babbling, incoherent people who don’t understand most of the world around them, have a dangerous sense of machismo (whether or not they are men), and at their core are selfish and unwilling to consider any sacrifice for the greater good that they don’t also get immediate benefit from.

And, while we’re dissecting this, a point of order: The cops on the horses weren’t even RCMP. They were from the Toronto Police Services.

It popped up on the front page right at the top when I logged in. Sigh.

Exactly why I didn’t bother trying to make an alt to respond.

LOL I agree =) Have seen them perform a number of times [well, I did dressage as well as steeplechase when I was younger, and it is something I had always loved when young so my Dad took me a number of times =) ]

Had been known to mosh pit in my youth, got a broken nose one and had a finger broken when someone stepped on my hand.

Stop clouding the issue with facts? /sarcasm

You are so naive, uninformed and a pawn of the lame-stream media. Those were actually members of the Northwest Mounted Police time-patrol with their shoulder patches covered by RCMP patches covered by Toronto Police Service patches while riding on horses carefully selected through complex numerology formulas sold to them by the illuminati after sacrificing and cannibalizing babies in pizzeria crypts.

Ah, damn, I always get the TPS and the NMPt-pwtspcbRCMPpcbTPSpwriohcstcnfsttbtiasacbipc mixed up.

I think it’s the hyphen that gives me trouble.

Outstanding! LOL

Why the fuck can’t we have a like button?

We need @RickJay to explain it to us.
