I’m reading a book called Life In Double Time Confessions of an American Drummer which I’d like to recommend to you. The author is Mike Lankford and he takes you from the teens and asking for that first drum kit to adulthood and the trials and tribulations of playing in a small professional road band.
The book is entertaining as well as brutally honest, and I’ll bet you’ll see yourselves in more than one situation. 
I got it from Big Lots for .50 cents and Amazon has used copies for $4.95.
A great read for all drummers.
