Well, the thing is that he is indulging and perpetuating fantasy. Aside from the fact that he makes NO claims of actually caring the transaction out, the fact is that beauty is still a crapshot, even IF both parents are supermodels.
Ugly people can have beautiful offspring and vice-versa!
maybe progress in the idea that I “progressed” from Savannah to Detroit.
I sure as hell didn’t think that I was better off.
It’s cool to be black in America. You get all this extra attention from sales people in fancy stores.

You’re right, Tracer. Evolution has nothing to do with progress. It has everything to do with adaption. I still hear references to the “Evolutionary Ladder.” Ticks me right off.
If you must use an analogy, please use “Bush” in place of “Ladder.”
I have my suspicions. Anyway, what type of credentials do you need to be a model.
Anyway, look at Harris’ credentials:

I don’t think stuff like this should be allowed to be sold on the internet. It’s like selling body parts.
When people go to sperm banks, they want smart donors. Egg donors are supposed to be pretty. The thing that irks me about this, is that homing in supermodels as egg-donors seems like a combination of sexism and ignorance. Sexists want girls to be pretty and boys to be smart, but it takes an ignorant person to think that eggs are more related to potential female children, and sperm are more related to male children. Clearly, the people who think this way did not have their genetic material donated by smart men or women. (The last bit is sarcastic.)
A smart sexist would get female-coded sperm from a good-looking man and combine it with supermodel eggs, or male-coded sperm from a male med student/whatever and combine it with eggs from smart women, if this sexist ever believed that women could be smart. Okay I’m ranting now. I’ll stop.
Nothing I write about any person or group should be applied to a larger group.
Mandy Jo - Now that you’ve revealed the rest of the story, I completely and totally agree with you for the egg a/o sperm donor issue.
There are some genetic diseases that can only be stopped by stopping having children. Why these people with these diseases willingly chose to have their own naturual children rather than adopt or do a donor( my brother is one of them) only to worry their asses off IF there is something wrong with the child
(there is) and then wonder how long before the symptoms set in and the decline begins to start the entire thing over again that the parent with the disorder just went through and was buried for.It just blows my mind. Talk about the ultimate selfishness.
My question is, would you want to actually want to meet the sperm donor or take the chances that s/he is not socially repugnant, but, hey, s/he invented the cure for the common cold. Cause until s/he invents the cure for the common cold, there is alot of dorkness stuff to handle.
Now now, it’s not inconceivable that, someday, somebody might come up with a broad-spectrum anti-viral drug – sorta like an anti-biotic that works on virii instead of bacteria.
Then again, such a drug still might not work against retrovirii, which spend most of their time inside the nuclei of their victim’s cells, so in that case it would be useless against AIDS.

Actually, Boris, this guy is supposed to eventually have sperm from whom he consider hansome males. So you can at least argue he is an equal-oppurtunity whatever-he-is.
But he’s discriminating against ugly people, SterlingNorth.
uh… right. So he’s not equal-oppurtunity.
My question now is does anyone refute this statement?

“Choosing eggs from beautiful women will profoundly increase the success of your children and your children’s children, for centuries to come,” he wrote on the Web page. More succinctly, he told Matt Lauer on “Today”: “You’re a cute guy, and that’s probably why you’re such a good anchor.”

Forget for the moment that as I said before:
Does beauty really help your lot in life in America? Is that a good thing or a wise thing? Is this something that needs to be perpetuated? Or is this simply a human trueism? Is it something that is futile to change?
It is by the fortune of God that, in this country, we have three benefits: freedom of speech, freedom of thought, and the wisdom never to use either.
—Mark Twain
Yes, I’m dredging up a dead thread, but a website run by someone who professes to admire female beauty and who makes a somewhat eloquent argument that this huge fuss is just people hating beautiful women.
Now, natually being a heterosexual male with a strong libido, I really hate beautiful women.
He argues that the big outcry from this is because people hate beautiful women and values and would do anything to destroy the two. I think I’m exaggerating the argument because, sometimes I agree with him and I’m still trying to read his page to figure out why I disagree with him.
(Disclamer: The site that has been linked to is NOT porn. however, h does talk about it a length and has posted pictures of topless women. So if you can’t handle it. please don’t click.)
