It’s just so annoying, though…a couple of months ago, no one knew who Sarah Palin was. Now, she’s being personally blamed for polar bears eating each other. If you want to be mad about the polar bears, be mad. But don’t make global warming and polar bear cannibalism about her…make it about what it is. The only thing a complaint like this does is make people take the problem less seriously.

No, I wouldn’t say that I’m all that interested in her being the future Republican leadership. On a personal level, I must admit I admire her, and I believe that she gets a lot of criticism that a man wouldn’t. On the other hand, I think she deals with a lot of issues that aren’t as relevant to other states…she’s a specialist, of sorts, and I’m not sure how effective she would be on the national level. Regarding this issue…I know squat about Alaska, oil drilling, and polar bears, so I can’t say if she is rightly criticized for this. I’ll go out on a limb and say that she IS placing other priorities above the plight of the polar bear. Whether or not she is at all justified in that, or whether or not she is deliberately downplaying the danger to the polar bear population, I can’t say. But all of that is kind of beside my point. The thing I find annoying, the OP made it 100% about Sarah Palin. One. Hundred. Percent. Is the OP and the green movement in general more about helping polar bears, or more about working up RO about Sarah Palin? THAT’S my point…it’s not about defending her, it’s about defending the polar bears.

I’m not taking it personally. And no, I’m not a particularly big fan of Sarah Palin. But in this instance, she’s right, Washoe is wrong, and yet the vicious attack against Palin is shrugged off. Palin wrong about polar bears? Hey, she’s a neo-Christian cunt. Washoe wrong about polar bears? Um… not so bad, really, because Washoe’s heart is in the right place, or some such.
