Since you said the battery was 4 or 5 years old, it could’ve been just the battery. I’ve had them go out on me like that, and it was the battery needing to be replaced.
If, in the unlikely event that it does it again, especially if the battery’s still pretty new and it’s really humid or raining when it does it, have the shop check the battery ground strap. Mine corroded at the battery-bracket end where you couldn’t see it and it basically shorted out every time it rained and by the time the shop got around to checking on it, it’d dry out so they couldn’t figure out what it was. Every. Stinking. Time. So I took it to another shop the next time it did it and they looked at it right away and fixed it with a heavier-gauge grounding strap plus they were nice enough to put on an extra one, Just In Case the first one gave out again, or something.
Anyway, that worked. So Just So You Know. And it’s not like it’s something that happens all that often or anything - the first shop couldn’t even find anything about it on the Innernet or anything.
Rue I have the solution to this - stop lifting your feet. That way there is no space for them to get into, and no way for them to be underfoot. You’re welcome.
And in a late reply to swampykins, I will be visiting the exotic ports of call of Chester, New Jersey this fourth of July. I’ll try to remember to bring back a souvenier.
Nah, no souveniers - it’s where I grew up (Chester, that is, for those with an extremely short attention span - although I already lost them halfway through this paranthetical. Now that’s a cool word). Anyway, back to my 'rents for the weekend, and I will get to see sibs & stuff, which is cool. My sister & her family are moving to San Diego - their stuff gets picked up tomorrow for shipping - and since it takes a while for everything to ship out there, they are doing some visiting on this coast before they head out. And luckily the time they chose to visit my parents is over 4th of July. More opportunities to see my adorable niece & nephews - yay!
I hopefully get to pick up Sunshine today. My other cat Jody has spent the past couple days meowing at me. “Hey - where’s Sunshine? Hey! Hey! Hey!”

But it was supposed to be Friday yesterday. I swear, all week I’ve been a day ahead. Yesterday I thought it was Friday. Wednesday I thought was Thursday, and so on. I think this week has been about four years long, too.
I will be so glad when it’s over. Swimming, beer, and new floaty loungers in the pool tonight! Hooray! (We have a privacy fence, too, so it’s none of anyone’s bidness but ours exactly how much swimsuit coverage there is after dark, either. :D)
I’m trying to look on the bright side. This means it’s a solid week where I don’t have to clean the litter box. (It’s not like it’s my cat.)

And do you know how much it annoys me when people walk around without lifting their feet Susan? More than having people (and dogs anna cat) get under my feet when I’m trying to do things. And if it gets too bad, I can always put on my boots. They still get under my feet, but I provide an immediate object lesson to them. Sometimes they even learn something. Briefly.
My pleasure. I hope yours doesn’t have that problem, to tell the truth, adn that it was just a case of “ancient battery-itis”. My mechanic said that it’s really rare for something like that to happen, really - so when it does, it’s a real bear to pin down. But, after all that, it’s only a $10 fix or so.

Growl, today is friday already? I, personally, wish that it were Wednesday or something, because I’m waiting for my new hard drive, and I don’t think FedEx can be bothered to do anything on weekends.

…sigh…still no e-mail. I actually got to talk to a REAL person today who stated that someone was coming up to fix it. They can’t figure out why my e-mail is spazzing out, it shouldn’t be, all looks right, but it ISN’T. So, they need to wipe my pst profile and set up a new one…sigh.
It is NOT hot here, and ain’t no one 'precitatin us employees today. The weather for the weekend is supposed to be…crappy. Why? Because it’s the weekend and those damn clouds and rain can just SMELL the weekend coming. And, also because we bought a boat and want to actually USE it. Cheerist on a pogo stick, I want a nice, warm weekend, WITHOUT clouds and “chances” of showers.
The good news is that it’s FRIDAY. Right? I have errands to run after work and don’t know when I’ll get home. FRIDAY, FRIDAY, FRIDAY, YAY!

I am so crazy happy that it’s Friday, and I don’t even have any exciting plans. Well, I was thinking of going over to a book sale tomorrow, but that’s about it. Quiet weekends are good, though.
I’m back into crocheting, and I’m working on something purty. I’ll see if I can posts pics of it once I am done. And maybe some kitty pics. Oh, wait. I shouldn’t have said that. Didn’t I learn anything from the invisible puppy thing?

I told her I mentioned her in the MMP, so she’s going to come here and see that no one’s said anything about how lucky I am to have gotten to spend time with one of our favorite Dopers, and she’s going to be sad.

Employee appreciation thing is winding down. Everybody’s fed and we declared a horseshoe champ. We had a “pitch off” and the winner got a ringer to claim first place and a twenty-five dollar giftcard from Wally*World. She’s happy. All in all a good time has been had by all. Now we gotta do clean up, take down the tents and stuff.
I came back in for a bit cause I got hot again. I don’t wanna melt.
