For the record, I've NEVER had a parking ticket...

The City of Chicago has decided to post on its website the list of the top parking scofflaws in the city.

Here’s a link. It’s a .pdf file.

I just get a kick out of seeing that atop the leaderboard is a person with 509 tickets, for a total of…$41,340.00.

Wow. The authorities here in NZ wouldn’t get away with publishing names and addresses like that. The civil rights people would be screaming.

I guess they figure that the offenders are screwing things up for the rest of us, so screw 'em!

$1,447,765.00 (or therabouts – just did a quick Excel sheet) in outstanding fines? If they know where these people are, or last known address – why have they let the figures get so high? What kind of debt collection process is there?

Got to admit – you can’t get very much more “contemptuous law violators” (the meaning of scofflaw, so I see) than this bunch on the list!

Did anyone else notice the top 3 are all women?

No kidding! I’m thinking, Wouldn’t a meter maid have like, a list?

“Oh, this car’s run up $40,000 in parking tickets…time to put the Boot on it!”

Damn! Do you drive? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve never had a parking ticket either and only two speeding tickets in the past 17 years, I’vebeen damned lucky

Y’all think that’s bad, in the Sunday paper here (Tejas) they have a full page of all offenders for the week posted. Names, dates, offenses and sentences. (Minors excluded)

driving isn’t how you get parking tickets…

But but but! If I didn’t drive from point A to point B, and stop, I wouldn’t get that ticket! Seriously, it’s not like I frequently get tickets. Once I got a parking ticket at the Grand Canyon for what I call “creative parking.” One recently for a spot that looked legit to me but was called on the ticket: not a parking spot. In these situations, I pay & don’t look back. The one I really hated was because my vehicle was not exactly inside the painted white lines! Time is money, so I didn’t contest it.

In 16 years of driving, I’ve never gotten a parking ticket either. I haven’t gotten a ticket of any kind in the last 12 years. In the first four years, I got three tickets: once because I couldn’t find my insurance card, once because I pulled into a bus-only lane at 3am, and once because I totaled my grandmother’s Camry and put three people in the hospital.

Re the list of scofflaws, if they know who these people are, why on earth do they still have driver’s licenses?

Well, I’ve never had a speeding ticket (to my big surprise) but I do get on a regular basis parking tickets :o

Actually the day I got my driver’s license I was so excited to go over to my bf’s house that I parked in the first space I saw. Once in his apt. on the 19th floor, I showed him where I was parked, all excited that I had been able to come over on my own. He asked me, is that the car… The one that’s getting a ticket??? It’s been downhill since then.

I get about 5 a year!!!
