For the women: Do movies influence your fashion tastes?

I didn’t realize how much movies have influenced me until the past year. First I had Amelie’s hairdo. Then when Frida came out, I found myself buying big dangling earrings and peasant skirts and tops. I haven’t worn the skirts and tops yet because they are summery. But they will look a little funny with my Catherine Zeta-Jones haircut from Chicago. (Modified the one from Amelie.)

Deep down one of the things I want most is Lara’s fur hat from Doctor Zhivago. But in the South? Besides, I don’t wear much fur.

I can remember a time in the late fifties and early sixties when most of us girls looked liked clones of Audrey Hepburn – or at least we tried to. Short dark hair, big sunglasses, a white scarf tied in the front and again in the back, sleeveless dresses. I even heard Barbara Walters admit to it once.

Have any movies, characters or celebrities influenced your style through the years?

Just that? If you were truly influenced by the movies you would’ve grown the monobrow.

And, err, I’m not one of the ladies the title refers to, but when I was around 9 or 10 I asked my barber if she could cut my hair so I looked like Han Solo, and used any excuse possible to wear a black vest and a white shirt. (I guess if I’m going to make fun of the OP I have to give an embarrassing story of my own as well.)
