Or posters speculating on when we would dive into the Marinaris Trench and for how long.
You’re not getting it. As a general rule, zombie threads are discouraged. Posters know that, and some report them. Upon investigation, Dex decided the bump was not a problem.
Had he decided it was, y’know, all you’d have to do was start a new thread. Especially in CS, links to old threads are not meant as, “We’ve done this before,” they’re meant as, “People who enjoy this thread may also enjoy these threads.” Don’t take stuff so personally.
What’s that supposed to mean, huh??? “Take stuff so personally?” Are you implying something about my character??? That grinds my gears!
OK, gear-grinding is absolutely forbidden. You have no idea what the sound of a crying transmission does to the hamsters.
My apologies to the hamsters then. But NOT TO ANYONE ELSE! JUST THE HAMSTERS!!
That would, of course, be a trench filled with spaghetti sauce, right?
On he other hand, maybe Cuckoorex little pit rant will get several more people to realize that in the Café, a bump of a zombie thread without and acrimony in it is okay. We have had some mods (a newer one I believe) close these down for no reason except ignorance of the Café Forum excetion that Thudlow Boink linked to.
Jim And yes I am deliberately tweaking your nose for a very minor and unimportant incident from your first week or two of moderating.
Dude- fuck off. I have never seen your post, and I rarely hit “report this post”, but when I want to do so, I *will *do so. The decision then rests with the Mods whether or not to do anything.
The only legit complaint about “report this post” rests with the Mods if a poster is doing so too damn often.
Not your call.
Damnit, I need another crayon! ('Twas the periods in Q.E.D. that did me in.)
Almost everything I did in the first week or two was wrong.
Well, if he ever wants to bitch about anything else he won’t have to start a new thread.
Whooo, you sure showed me. I’ll respond to your salient points soon…
Dude, seriously, what is your damn problem? You either have your sensitivity turned to 11 or you’re trolling. Reporting a post is not necessarily an indictment of your character, but this hyperbolic rant of yours certainly is.
I just reported your post, fuckwit. Merry Christmas.
It’s not an either-or situation, actually. Think of something along the lines of, “all I wanted to do was post something I found amusing in a thread about things that are amusing, but apparently that got more than one person’s knickers in a twist and they had to report the post, as if I had made a death threat or something? What the hell? Fuck it, I’ll rant a bit in the Pit and be done with it.”
See, instead of bottling up my emotions until I do something like, say, report posts that may or may not violate rules that certainly don’t affect me directly, I just rant it out for a paragraph and I’m done. Truth is, I’m not really even mad at the people who reported it anymore; I’m sure they thought they were helping out the mods. Good for them. It just annoyed me.
As for me trolling…? At nearly a thousand posts, I know I’m still far behind even the moderately prolific contributors to the SDMB, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t get this far by trolling. I just happen to be bad at Pit threads, apparently, which brings me to;
You know, I was all set to defend my OP but after re-reading it, I agree that you have a point. It was overblown, and was too much of a personal attack. Sorry, people who I called assholes. I should probably stick to pitting stock photo companies and Sony and so forth.
Oh that’s it. I am totally reporting this now.
Oh, crap.
Hey, Cuckoorex? I do not have any problem with your having revived that thread, and I knew that Cafe Society is very lenient on thread resurrections. I reported it because it’s not my call to make. I’m not a moderator, even a self-appointed junior one, here. I’m rather glad Dex left it open – but it’s his call to make, not mine. I just alerted him to something that is sometimes frowned upon, so that he’d be aware and make the choice.
I won’t speak for the other post-reporters, but I suspect more than a few may well have had the same motive.
Merry Christmas. Petty peeves have fallen away. God (or whatever) bless us, everyone.
I started that thread. :smack:
If people keep mentioning it, don’t think I won’t bump it!
