For those who don't like Woody Allen movies...
He started becoming an asshole about 30 years ago when he started taking himself seriously. He cemented his asshole status with the whole “heart wants what it wants” thing with his stepdaughter. A pandering lesbian scene with two actresses widely drooled over is just further evidence that he’s an asshole.
Yet he seems to be using his asshole-ness for the greater good for a change! Huzzah!

Oh, OK, I get it now. Like this.

Proposing crime to solve money problems. What an asshole.

Only an asshole would film a student having an affair.

OMG! That’s practically incest! Super asshole territory.

Any film with Will Farrell in it is automatically assholish.

I like this game. Let’s play more!

The asshole has used that theme before, in Take the Money and Run AND Small-Time Crooks. So he’s pro-crime, and unoriginal to boot. What an asshole!

And let’s not forget that Match Point was basically a remake of Crimes and Misdemeanors. A double-dipping asshole!

He’s gonna have to work mighty hard to top David Lynch.

Scarlett Johansson is possibly the most overrated (looks and talent-wise) celebrity, ever. Sounds like a waste of what could’ve been a hot Penelope Cruz scene.
How funny… I was just about to write a post identical to yours in every way, except with the two actresses switched. Oh, well, that’s what makes horse races.

Point taken. shrug

I don’t like Woody Allen, and think he’s an asshole. I loved his movies up through Annie Hall (which, alas, doesn’t hold up very well), but thought that his move towards thinking he was Ingmar freaking Bergman made for some seriously shitty cinema. I decided at some point – after sleeping through Zelig, IIRC – that I didn’t need to see any more of them. At this point, I feel no urgency about revisiting my prejudice against them – and him, given his behavior in the Soon-Yi debacle – so I may well have missed some movies I would have liked.

I was (I thought) responding in spirit to the OP, whose premise was (I thought) “if you don’t like Woody Allen movies, this hot chick-on-chick action will change your mind.” My reaction was, since I’m a middle-aged, straight female, no, the thought of these two swapping spit will not actually get me to change my mind about Woody Allen or his movies.

Sorry to spoil your fun, Exapno.
Exactly why I posted what I did. This straight guy thinks Bardem is a troll. It’s saying a lot when Woody Harrelson is not the ugliest guy in No Country For Old Men…
A troll? I don’t think so.

Blame the pageboy haircut and weird stare in NC4OM. But, to this straight dude, he’s pretty good looking.

Can we substitute Salma Hayek for Penelope Cruz? Rrrrowr!

Probably the closest you’re going to get.

Ever?

I mean, like, ever?

More overrated than, say, Bo Derek?

Really?

twickster,

For what it’s worth, I’m twenty years younger than you, and had mostly the same reaction, although I’d have worded it less strongly, because I’m me.

Penelope and Scarlett in a liplock?

Man, that Woody Allen, what an artist!

How was Bo Derek overrated? Even at her brief peak, she was never regarded as a competent–let alone good–actress.

At least Scarlett Johansson has some decent performances in Ghost World and Lost in Translation going for her. Even if she did nothing but straight-to-DVD crap for the rest of her life, she’s still far ahead of anything Derek ever did.

Woody Allen started repeating himself 25 years ago. He’s always pretty shamelessly objectified women in his movies, so I don’t see this as anything new so much as it’s just a further slide down the slope.

It appears the publicist may have exaggerated just a little bit. Sorry, straight dudes…

No, but she was rather famously considered a 10. Which I think is overstating things somewhat.

What the hell’s the point? I’ve never given an eagle’s beak about nudity in mainstream movies. What am I going to do, start whacking it right there in the theater? If I wanted to see two hot women fuck each other, I would get a porno movie. There are women in porn who are just as hot as Scarlet and Penelope. And it would be an actual sex scene, also, not a fake one, and it would show everything instead of hiding 80 percent of it. Fuck this.

I second that emotion. Penelope Cruz looks like Bob Sagett to me. Ick.

Still it is a lesbian scene. I’ll be renting this one!

No thanks, this doesn’t take him off my hate list.
