I drink Diet Pepsi from the fountain in my work cafeteria. I hate the taste but don’t want to take on too many empty calories. Today I tried something new. I filled up the cup about 80% with Diet Pepsi, and then topped it off with Cherry Pepsi. This turned out to be waaaaay better than regular Diet Pepsi. And I still only had to consume 20% of the calories. Try it and let me know how you like it. I haven’t tried it with Diet Coke/Cherry Coke yet.
I’ve been doing this for years. I don’t mind flavored diet sodas, but hate diet colas, which is all most fountains offer. When I go to the movies, I ask for a Diet Coke with a “splash” of Cherry Coke. Much, much more palatable than straight-up Diet Coke.
When I started dieting, I knew that the first switch I’d have to make was to cut back on the Pepsi. I choked down a few cans of Diet Pepsi, but had no faith that I would be able to develop a taste for it.
Then, I discovered Pepsi One. Just one teensy calorie, and about fifty times the taste of Diet Pepsi. I don’t miss drinking regular Pepsi at all now.
Of course, I’ve never seen it at a fountain, so this is sort of a moot point here…
I liek Diet Coke, but not so much Diet Pepsi, so when I worked at the deli, I always filled up with DP, waited for the fiz to die down, then topped off with Dr. Pepper or Root Beer, usually not more than an once or so. I still do stuff like that when I go to a self-serve fountan.
Y’know, I never understood why Pepsi One hasn’t caught on. It tastes about a gazillion times better than diet Pepsi, and one calorie is hardly significant. In fact, it tastes almost identical to normal Pepsi.
Haven’t you people heard of ice water? No calories, no junk.
“[Father] said he liked water, he told us it was one of Nature’s best gifts, but he said that like all her gifts it was unfit for human consumption unless served in a suitable manner. And the only right way to serve water was icy cold.”
—Clarence Day, Life with Father
Nah, Diet Dew’s not so bad, though I miss the high-octane sugar and caffeine effect of the real stuff. Diet Dr Pepper is good too (but don’t drink more! Save it for me!), and Diet Cherry Vanilla Dr Pepper is the nectar of all the gods that were, are, and will be. I recently tried Diet Sprite again, but it’s rather fizzier than I like. Same with Fresca, though it’s nice for a change. Diet Cherry Coke is good, but Diet Coke with Lime is foul.
I have tried many, many diet sodas. My plan of one can of the real stuff a day doesn’t seem to be working. Three cans of diet and a whole lot of water does work, though.
