it pisses me off to no end when i can’t pull my townieness out of my ass to save my butt.
so playing on heartstrings is a viable strategy. so i try not to listen to that stuff at all. the folks that are saying it and playing the game understand that it might not be enough to save their ass. the folks that are saying it because the other players should listen, but then don’t, and then get their panties in a wad are going to face torment for as long as they willingly participate.
that’s why i didn’t get tom. whoa is me i am town. you are still going to lynch me even when i ask you nicely and tell you to trust me. people call him on his bullshit (that even HE knows is bullshit) and then gets pissed about it.
but i will say this, it is harder being innocent townie getting stretched as opposed to guilty scum.
I don’t know about that… As I said at the time, a close race between a Townie and a Scum (as it’s now been confirmed that my lynch was) generates valuable information, even if the Townie dies, so I can take some comfort in knowing that my death had some benefit. And any individual Scum is more important to their team than any individual Townie, just by virtue of numbers, so each death hurts Scum more. I think it was harder on me when I got lynched in Screamers (as Scum) than it was in this game (as Town).
I mean, On paper, it is the “Suzy lives next to the blue house, and can hear the saxophone player from the house across the street.” type of puzzle.
In practice, it’s way too meta, It will never be If Meeko is Town or Scum, it will ALWAYS be how much work do I not want to put in, to understand Meeko for this game.
Same for Peeker. We may not be able to maintain Townliness as we try to play and prove it, but for many other players Town or Scum is not the issue. The personal out of game stuff dominates the actual game.
and i agree meeko. i don’t mind as much if i get lynched or NK’ed if it’s in the context of the game. but this horseshit about “anit - town” or i don’t like the way you play so … is about very frustrating. but what you gonna do?
for me i just suck it up and let the idiots keep lynching me on Day one and racking up a string of losses. at some point maybe they want to win a game and will listen. until then you have to put up with their closed mindedness and stupidity.
but, yaknow. that’s not my problem, it’s theirs.
p.s. and plus never ever ever let me be a town vig. that is extraordinarily dangerous for town.
I probably shouldn’t bother saying this, but… I find it ironic that this sentiment comes from you. In my readings of the games you’ve played in (and we played in one together as well, IIRC), you spend way way way too much time talking about yourself and taking everything personally. YOU are the reason personal out-of-game stuff dominates. It doesn’t have to be that way - YOU can change it by stopping it. Read an old game that you weren’t in and you’ll see that the game can be played without all that crap.
special_ed also seems to be trying to influence ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies’ vote with the post about needing a final vote and to look at the math for where to place it. Voting with a townie means 67% odds of finding scum and voting without taking a cue from a townie means 50%. Control freaks shouldn’t play Mafia.
Of course he was trying to influence Cookies’ vote. Every player in the game right now should be trying to influence her vote, because if she votes wrong, it’s game over. Yeah, it’s a little unfair that so much weight rests on the shoulders of someone who subbed in, but that’s life.
Well, I’m not officially dead, but it’s past 2:00 so all I’m waiting for is mod confirmation.
Haven’t read the thread yet. Curious to see if you guys think I was Scum, or if this happened completely out of left field. Man, I hate how this went down.
So, it won’t start for a bit, and it’s not actually mafia…but the long awaited Malazan Book of the Fallen game that Hoopy, Rysto, MHaye and I have been developing for the better part of two years is finally ready to see the light of Day.
I am hoping that any of you who play mafia here will head over and check out a game that is a bit different. It’s not mafia in the most traditional sense, but I think it should be a blast.
If you haven’t played in a while or were tempted to join but weren’t sure you wanted to play we want you! This game is going to be so different that we thing everyone will be on an equal footing.
