Forecast: Storm of Century, Icy Fingers of Wintry Death, Etc.

Yeah, we went to my in-laws’ on Queen Anne yesterday, and the worst roads were the small residential roads up there. The alley in back of our building, which is how we get to our garage, is also really bad. We have chains on our car and except for the very beginning and the very end of the drive, we wished we didn’t have them on. But those few roads are so slushy and slippy that we need the chains for them!

My gf and I came back to the house after visiting out-of-town family for a couple of days. It was a little slippy-slidey on the roads, but not bad.

Then we actually got to the house, turned into the driveway, and stopped dead. The front wheels were spinning in the icy-slushy gutter where the road met the end of the drive.

After thirty minutes of shoveling, pushing, and gasping, involving the help of a generous neighbor who happened to look out her front window and came out to assist, we gave up and basically shoved the car sideways through the ice into an available parking spot on the street.

We’ll try again later today.

It’s snowing balls-nasty again.

Bats don’t shiv.

Emboldened by the lack of falling snow and the rising temperatures this morning, we headed down the hill to see a movie. The roads aren’t too bad, but the parking lots are slush-filled pits o’ death. On our way home, it started raining/snowing (snaining?)… and up the Sammamish hill, that turned into hard snow again. It’s coming down in buckets.

You just THOUGHT the snopacalypse was averted.

LOL

…and it’s snowing again in Seattle. Fuuuuck.

It snowed here yesterday. Raining now (thank the gods).

Looks like 40s for the next ten days! Yippee!!!

Snow in Seattle again? Perhaps you should just shut everything down until spring?

We’re supposed to get something like six more inches tomorrow, but hell, up here it’s expected and mostly welcomed. But why can’t it decide to snow on a day when I don’t have to go to work, huh?

I just got back home after my girlfriend’s car got horribly stuck on the back side of Capitol Hill. (Slid out of control and yerked sideways against the curb, hard. The right front wheel is humped.)

I have never seen this much snow fall this fast. It’s not going to last 36 hours, but it couldn’t have been coming down faster if it were being shoveled down out of the sky. Four inches accumulation in about five hours, and still coming down. Crazy, man. Crazy.

Here in rural Alberta I’ve been dealing with the cold. Not a lot of snow, but stupefying cold. It seems like it has been -35 to -40 for weeks. Yesterday was downright balmy, started at -32, went to -19 and it’s a veritable heat wave now at -14!

I’m gonna live on the edge today and not wear my toque or even do up my parka!

We met some friends in Wallingford last night- almost turned around 'cause it started snowing as we left. When we got to the restaurant, it was snowing hard, and sticking. Driving home was NOT fun- especially since we were following a minivan which couldn’t go over ten miles an hour. Climbing Sahalee was… interesting, at such a low speed.

I’m up early, and the snow’s turned to rain. The streets look to be completely clear. This is good, as due to the snow and the holidays, I’ve been away from the office for just about three weeks.

Our snow has not gone away in Langford. It snowed on Saturday. It snowed on Sunday. I am a little tired of it now. In Victoria proper, there is no snow. But here–snow. And no sidewalks. I want to walk my dog 2k every day! Resolutions!

BTW, this is what happens when two hip-hop acts get a show canceled due to the snow
