Forgot my pill

Hi (using my lurker boyfriends account)

Knowing that this is not a forum for medical advice, i’d appreciate if you would read through the text below. Yeah, I’ll talk to my doctor :).

I’ve been on the pill for quite a while (20 years) and until 5 years ago I decided to take the pills through my periods to stop them altogether. It worked out fine for years but now I experience that I once in a while have small bleedings. Two weeks ago, I forgot :smack: my pill and directly after I got a really (compared to my normal period, as i remember) small bleeding. And then again, one week later I forgot :smack: it again and this time it was somewhat bigger. So now my question is: How long do I have to use other kinds of birth control before I can rely on the pill again?

And by the way, does any research exist which shows that skipping periods is dangerous or in any way harmful?

I’m 35, by the way.

Looking forward to your reading your answer.

Cheers
Pia

There should be an insert that comes with every pill pack that says what you should do vis a vis alternate birth control, depending on your exact pill formulation and what weeks you missed in.

There is no medical reason not to skip periods. 2 FDA approved brands of oral contraception (Seasonale and Seasonique) are organized so you skip all but 4 periods a year.

This is a no-no. If you want to post here, create your own account. This one’s closed.
