Fork Hillary 3: The Final Forking

**Dio ** beat you to it. I wish I’d known before you Democrats were so much fun! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’d certainly regard it as a demographic phenomenon first and foremost, and I’d say its power as a social phenomenon derived from the demographics.

I suppose it should have its own thread, but I’d be hard pressed to understand how someone who’d already graduated from college and was a year or two into their entry-level position at XYZ Corp. when the Summer of Love rolled around could possibly be considered a boomer from a cultural point of view. As Kesey said, you’re either on the bus or off the bus.

That’s the demographic for all those car ads you see these days, amongst others, about how cool you used to be. Yeah, right.

I think I might have to take a break for a bit here… I need to get some work done, but just a heads up, this guy Al Giordano at the Field is saying he’s going to have some major scoop at 3PM today.

This guy is pretty awesome actually.

MSNBC is nauseating today. They’ve had some bimbo on earlier recycling stale talking points that expired at least a week ago. I can’t wait until the big boys come on later tonight.

A lot of people trash talk tweety (Chris Matthews), but I think he’s alright. He seems to poorly choose whom he plays “Hardball” with but he does cut down the bull-shitters by purely random chance. Keith Olberman is okay, but I think he’s taken the mass adoration of him by the left as some sort of indication that he’s the next Cronkite. But on the whole he isn’t clueless. Chuck Todd looks like Murray from Flight of the Conchords, if you guys know that show.

Wes Clark introduced Kathleen Sebelius at a fund raising event last night, referring to her as “the next Vice President of the United States.”

Now that is my dream ticket!

Gen. Clark is a Clinton loyalist, isn’t he? That’s interesting.

Indeed he is. Big time.

I’ve been thinking about this over the last few weeks and, briefly, discussing it at work: just from an operating standpoint, I think Obama has run a historic campaign. He was going against a candidate with a huge edge in name recognition, money, insider support and national experience, and he managed to win through exceptional organization, use of the Internet and tapping into the enthusiasm he’d created. He’s been the frontrunner for a few months, and I think that obscures just how unlikely this whole thing really was at the start. It unfolded in slow-motion, but this was a historic upset. I’m struggling to think of a sports comparison. NC State-Houston? Villanova-Georgetown?

NY Giants-NE Patriots?

Not knocking the accomplishment (I agree it’s historic), but he was certainly helped by a pretty fair chunk of “anyone but Hillary” voters.

Having said that, I think the number of Democrats having to hold their nose when voting this fall will be low.

AP is calling the nomination for Obama. I’d link but my boss is watching me type this. Gotta go!
Damn. That’s what I get for not looking!

Thank you for this!

I noticed Obama gave her subtle recognition durring his press conference on Saturday. Then she was on MSNBC for the PR primaries, made a good showing and was praised by both Matthews and Olbermann.

To hear that coming from such a staunch Clinton supporter, Clark, is outstanding.

With the weather in Seattle and the events of today, Arrested Development’s “Raining Revolution”
Merk, I’m sort of with you on Matthews. I’ve viewed him as almost comedy relief during these primary coverages. I’m not sure which way he leans really, but he just seems to lack any sort of shut of valve for his mouth. To his credit, his interview with McClellon last night was really well done, as he actually made the focus on Cheney and his role.

As for other MSNBC contributers, is there somewhere we can petition Obama to have Rachel Maddow be his Press Sec.? I’d love to see that happen.

MSNBC: Obama 27.5. Hillary unchanged.

I think the number of Anyone but Hillary voters in the primaries would have been fairly low, just like I think - without accusing anybody of anything - that most of the people here who have come to loathe her due to her campaigning would have been okay with supporting her if she’d locked it up on February 5. The Clinton campaign made its share of mistakes, too, but I chalk most of this up to what Obama and his team did.

Jimmy Carter just endorsed Obama.

Gah, that would be wonderful.

The Ransom of Dead Commander-in-Chief?

No! Give me Norah O’Donnell!

LINK?!?

WOOT!!!

NPR just interviewed a New York superdelegate who announced for Clinton. I didn’t catch the name, but she was a Democratic committee official from the only district in New York that supported Obama.

ETA: Ah, here it is: Irene Stein of Ithaca, chairwoman of the Tompkins County Democratic Committee.
