Extremely stupid move though, given that she has had up until now a pretty successful career in acting - one which many porn stars would have loved to have but could only dream of.

Honest question:
Did the Miss USA gig actually ever get any bills paid? Not to be snarky, but I’ve never heard/seen any professional tours or shows of past Miss USAs. Come to think of it, I’ve never heard/seen anything of the Miss Americas either*. It’s not like they’re touring with Van Halen, playing right wing for my beloved NJ Devils, or have their own stand-up routine on the Tonight Show.
To be snarky, I wouldn’t exactly fall all over myself to meet one. I’d be like, “Wow. You won a frickin’ tiara. Whoopdeedoo.” The contests have never held any relevance for me and as I understand it, had lost any relevance to modern pop society for quite some time.
But hey, if it’s more or less a launching platform for other careers, great. If she launched it into a career she’s happy with, great! She worked for it, she earned the right to the choice!

D’oh! I got it from a page that also had the other woman on it. Apparently they were in the same sorority (probably not the same chapter) as was Reese Witherspoon, Kirstie Alley, Gwyneth Paltrow and a lot of young hotties who like to ho it up. I’m sure they’ll be quite proud and leave her on their website Gamma Phi Beta, I think. Sorry for the confusion, they both have freakishly wide mouths, I figured it was just the same woman with blond hair.
I can’t wait for the gossip columns to run a blind item about a ‘Christian actress-turned-porn star’ (with ShibbOleth as the ‘close friend’ who tipped them off).
Phyllis George was a Miss America, and became quite successful.
This page lists Miss USA winners, and frankly, not a lot of them are household names, at least to me, so you may have a point. I’d think most of them would’ve gone into modeling at least, if not acting. I think more Miss America winners (link) have become well-known, from Phyllis George to Lee Meriwether, to Vanessa Williams.

Well she is not a big celebrity (and I don’t mean the fact that she is about 4-10). Though she has worked steady on TV her biggest roles have been on Broadway.
The thing about Kristin Chenoweth is that she’s 4’10" with a gorgeous voice which has to be at least 7 feet tall.
Nobody else has mentioned that this is Beth from Passions, which makes it 10 times as funny.
I think this is kind of sad. Granted, the Miss USA isn’t nearly as popular as Miss America (and the publicity around that has even died down in the past few years), but I imagine that there are some young girls out there that might look up to these women. This whole “porn goes mainstream” thing doesn’t sit right with me. I like porn, don’t get me wrong, but the fact that so many porn stars are becoming household names (and, like, celebrities) is very troubling to me… which is especially weird since I’m not a religious person or anything. It just doesn’t feel right.
