A Saint. I sure wish we could have people like him as president.

TBH, he wasn’t that great as President, but what he learned in that job served him well ever since. But I sure as heck wish subsequent Presidents could have his honesty and integrity. He’s an amazing human.
Just glad he didn’t die during the previous administration. Now he’ll get the send-off he deserves.
Theres a house under construction near me being made by Habitat.
Rosalynn just yesterday celebrated her 96th birthday.
Jimmy will turn 99 on 01 October.
I hope.
A prolonged life is not always desirable. Most people want to die before every shred of humanity and personality are gone.
My mom’s last two months were extremely difficult. I’m thankful that she wasn’t cognitive of the situation. She was unconscious and could only be woken by shaking her arm. She’d open her eyes and be out again within a few minutes.
That she was or that she wasn’t?
wasn’t
I didn’t edit fast enough.
I was extremely thankful my mom had 89 good years. She has several hundred kindle books on her account. She would finish a book in a couple days. She only stopped reading the last year. We did have some good conversations up until the last couple months.
I’m sorry for your loss.
My mother also read voraciously up until the last year of he life. She hadn’t owned a TV in at least 30 years and when I moved her to assisted living, she didn’t want one there.
Thank you @ThelmaLou.
Hospice did a good job with my mom.
I know Jimmy Carter is being kept comfortable too.
It’s so great that he and Rosalyn will be together until the very end. That’s a huge gift. Maybe they will depart this life hand-in-hand just as they went through it.
Just like in The Notebook.
I’ve been thinking of Jimmy Carter off and on these past couple of months. Amazingly, he is still with us. Good on ya, sir! Jimmy Carter entered hospice care over a year ago. From this article a month ago (Northeastern Global News: Jimmy Carter has spent over a year in hospice care. How has he defied the odds?) —
“End-of-life advocates and experts cite Carter’s stay in hospice as having a positive impact on the discourse surrounding end-of-life care. Northeastern University experts say many people put off hospice care until it’s too late.”
And,
“According to the National Institutes of Health, more than 90% of patients who enter hospice care die within the first six months. Roughly 36% of patients die within a week of entering hospice.”
Rosalynn Carter passed away last November at the age of 96. They were married for 77 incredible years. Jimmy, still going, is 99. 01 October 2024 will be the 100th birthday for POTUS #39. George H. W. Bush, POTUS #41, was previously the oldest living former POTUS. He was 94 years old when he passed away in November 2018.
I opened this forum and saw that this thread had been updated, and thought maybe that was, at long last, an announcement of his death. He looked so frail at Rosalyn’s funeral service that I thought he couldn’t possibly last a week more. 4+ months later, I’m really surprised he’s still with us.
I was a little fearful of posting my thoughts, because, y’know, jinx and all that.
Carter’s grandson says Jimmy is likely in his final hours.

Thanks for the update. He’s had (and continues to have) an excellent run.
Huh?
