Rest in Peace, Jimmy Carter who turned 100 on October 1st. Amazing (has died, Dec. 29, 2024)

I guess peanuts are good for your diet!

The Carter Center is asking for the public’s help in celebrating former President Jimmy Carter’s birthday:

A good idea!

Not likely, but it’s possible he might even shockingly outlive Trump and Biden.

I’m bumping this thread because the one month countdown has started. In just over four weeks, we could have our first president who lives to be 100!

I’m really scared of jinxing it though. If he pulls a Betty White, I’m going to feel awful. Hang in there, Mr. President! And please remember, I wasn’t the OP.

I was just thinking of this, this morning. Only 30 days to go (29 now, I think). Early voting in Georgia starts 10/15, and he may be in a location where he can vote sooner.

Yeah I’m always scared of jinxing it. But what will happen, will happen. It is us who attribute events to unrelated actions, whiich should be the case here on The Dope.

Go Jimmy!

Hope he gets to early vote.

Likely he’ll vote absentee. Lots of people stuck in nursing homes do.

This site says Georgia mails them 25 to 29 days before the election. That means they’ll mail his ballot between the 7th and the 11th of October and he’ll get it 4 or 5 days later.

I’m sure all the people who have him in the Death Pool thread would rather have the zero score than lose him in the next month.

Y’know he’s still eligible to run for president, and has a net approval rating of +43% just saying…

I am one of those, and yep you’re right. Go Jimmy!

(I’ve had both Jimmy and Rosalynn on my list for years. Heck, I’ll put Jimmy on my list for next year if he’s still around!)

As a present, I will send him replicas of every Olympic medal won by Team USA in the 1980 Summer Olympics.

I’m amazed he’s still alive. And I don’t mean that in any sort of meanspirited way. Rosalynn died last November and the stereotype at least is that the surviving partner of a very long marriage (especially the husband) like that often doesn’t live much longer. I said the same thing about George Bush after Barbara died and he lived another seven months.

And, he’s been in hospice care for over a year.

20 days to go. Hang in there, Mr. President!

I actually bought some peanuts from Plains GA to taste in a small celebration of his birthday.

I saw a trivia question yesterday: Who is the last Democratic President who has died? The surprising answer: Lyndon Johnson. I like that answer; long may it be so.

And he died in 1973.

It was just a wild guess, but that was who I guessed it was.

He already said he wants to be able to vote for Kamala and Tim.

I won’t find it humorous at all, but can you imagine if Joe Biden dies before Jimmy Carter? Talk about something we wouldn’t see coming.

When I first saw this question, I thought it might have been Truman! Which would have been truly surprising. After looking it up, I found that Truman died the year before Johnson, so it wasn’t that far off.
