It just hit me that Jimmy Carter is alive. I mean, I knew he was. But it just hit me that he’s alive, has lived to see Trump elected president.
And Donald may be the last president Carter ever sees.
I got the same feeling the other day when I remembered that Henry Kissinger is still alive. He was a major political figure fifty years ago.
I wonder if the Carter family can bar Trump from his state funeral.
Bad idea: if they snub Trump, they may not get a really nice condolence letter from him.

I think Carter will outlive Trump.
Then again, I think Carter will outlive us all.

1976: Jimmy Carter does the Playboy interview. Mentions he had “lusted in his heart”. Big, big stink. Evangelicals decry him.
2016: Donald Trump has appeared on the cover of Playboy as well as the interview. Appears in Playboy videos that also contain nudity. No stink whatsoever. Says and does incredibility filthy things. Evangelicals praise him as their savior.

There have been three time periods when six living current or former presidents co-existed, with the longest and most recent being a three-year period starting with the 2001 inauguration of George W. Bush. If no president dies before the inauguration of President Donald J. Trump on January 20, 2017, there will again be six current or former presidents alive.
Interesting.

Had to look that one up. Never heard of it before, but… (another Wikipedia quote)
President Carter had gone on a solo fishing expedition in his hometown of Plains, Georgia. According to Carter a rabbit being chased by hounds “jumped in the water and swam toward my boat. When he got almost there, I splashed some water with a paddle.”
Upon returning to his office, Carter’s staff did not believe his story, insisting that rabbits could not swim, or that they would never approach a person threateningly. However, the incident was captured on footage taken by a White House photographer.
The Jimmy Carter rabbit incident, sensationalized as the "killer rabbit attack" by the press, involved a swamp rabbit (Sylvilagus aquaticus) that swam toward U.S. president Jimmy Carter's fishing boat on April 20, 1979. The incident caught the imagination of the media after Associated Press White House correspondent Brooks Jackson learned of the story months later.
On April 20, 1979, during a few days of vacation in his hometown of Plains, Georgia, Carter was fishing in a canoe or rowboat in a...

At least Rosalynn Carter, a Southern Lady, was kind. I expect Melania Trump to be kind. But HRC, another Southern Lady, as a First Lady and as a candidate was very much a bitch who denigrated staff and the help. Thank goodness she isn’t in the White House.
And I am confident Jimmy Carter, a true gentleman, has had similar thoughts.

Do you have any credible sources for this?

Certainly. Here are a few for starters. I found these for the Secret Service thread.
New York Post - Secret Service agents: Hillary is a nightmare to work with :
“Good morning, ma’am,” a member of the uniformed Secret Service once greeted Hillary Clinton.
“Fuck off,” she replied.
That exchange is one among many that active and retired Secret Service agents shared with Ronald Kessler, author of “First Family Detail,” a compelling look at the intrepid personnel who shield America’s presidents and their families — and those whom they guard.
Kessler writes flatteringly and critically about people in both parties. Regarding the Clintons, Kessler presents Chelsea as a model protectee who respected and appreciated her agents. He describes Bill as a difficult chief executive but an easygoing ex-president. And Kessler exposes Hillary as an epically abusive Arctic monster.
That is from Ronald Kessler.
This is from Dan Emmett and Gary Aldridge:
Dan Emmett, a Secret Service agent with the Presidential Protective Unit, guarded Bill Clinton during his first term. He lifts the lid off his life as a protector of the president in his new book. While Hillary treated the agents with disdain, and...
And, from MSNBC :
Hillary Clinton’s prominent role in her husband’s White House caused friction with the president’s staff, which occasionally erupted in her anger, according to newly released oral histories from the time.
<snip>
Hillary Clinton’s (temper) “had much more sustained velocity, for a longer period of time,” according to former White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta. “She just let everybody have it,” Panetta recalled of one incident.
In another incident, he recalled an aide telling him: “The First Lady just tore everybody a new asshole."
<snip>
“She would blow up over something that she misinterpreted. Again, you can’t take her on, that’s not my boss. You can’t take on the First Lady,” Baggert said. “I remember one time in one of these meetings where she was blowing up about [Bill Clinton’s] staff and how we were all incompetent and he was having to be the mechanic and drive the car and do everything, that we weren’t capable of anything.”
Baggert added that Clinton would chew out staffers in front of their colleagues, which made things especially awkward. “Sometimes she’d be in those meetings and I’d think, ‘Please don’t let her yell at me,’” Baggert added.
From 1998 when the Monica Lewinsky affair came to light (clearly a difficult time for the family, but if one is a bitch to begin with, then your husband’s very public White House affair only makes one that much more a bitch to the staff, from businessInsider.com :
The first lady’s temper was reportedly “notoriously short” during the media frenzy that followed the press rumors of the Lewinsky affair.
A former storeroom manager told Brower that the affair fallout “was just so overwhelming for her and if you said something to her she’d snap.”
There are more, just search. She isn’t a kind person, not very gracious, with regular denigrating rants directed at the very people who help her.
