Former WHPS Scott McClellan accuses W Admin of misleading us into Iraq
But what’s despicable is how McClellan blames the media for not doing its job in being more diligent about challenging the administration and its assertions. “Hey guys! Remember when, during the times I wasn’t overtly lying to you, I was being endlessly evasive, parsing my language, and using straw men as cover so as to not have to answer the questions you were asking me all those years? Well, that was your fault!”
Not to defend Captain Flopsweat here, but he has a point.

No, it’s not kosher for a WHPS to go up there and lie to the nation. However, it was painfully obvious to everyone but the most retarded Bushbot that he was completely full of shit. And what did Our Great American Press Corps do? They pretty much published White House talking points as “news” and called it an early day.

McClellan should be put up against a wall for what he helped do to the nation, but the media deserves a hell of a lot of blame for what has happened and what is happening.

Me and God just watching Scotty grow. A pair. At age 39.

It’s a hell of a drug.

I really couldn’t let that one go without proper kudos. You’re my new friend.
That was my first thought too.
Me, too. I’m reminded of Colin Powell, who played a much bigger role.

Agreed. I hope to hell he doesn’t make much money off this book. But I’m afraid there will always be a market for it.
Too bad these folks never seem to grow principles about truth-telling until years after they’ve left the administration.
Seriously. Fuck Scott McClellan and his fair-weather testicles.

I hope to hell a lot of people read it, which means a lot of people buy it, and if McClellan makes $ off that, so be it; maybe it will inspire other Admin insiders to do the right thing for the wrong reason and turn their coats.

It’s #1 at Amazon now. Got any backup hopes?

I hope his book hurts the McCain campaign. One thing that could stop it from doing that it is the righteous indignation of Democrats.

Any chance that all of these MF will get their day in court? I mean how much more evidence is needed to charge the lot of them?

With what? It is not a crime for the POTUS to lie to the public and the world. (Unless he’s testifying under oath.) It is an impeachable offense, because anything is an impeachable offense if Congress decides it is, but impeachment can do no more than remove a federal official from office, and he’ll be out by January anyway.

Don’t get it. How can it NOT be a crime (you’re the lawyer BG, pick the charge) to LIE your country into a war?
It’s not a crime because there’s no law against it. (Who ever imagined we’d need one?!)

Also – some people insist that sort of lie should be within a chief executive’s proper sphere of discretion anyway – or, at least, that there is no one to whom he can properly be held accountable for it. See this thread.

How about his contention that Libby and Rove met to get the Plame story straight? I think Libby may be off the hook for that but what about Rove? Yeah, I know, they can’t even get him to testify before Congress with a subpoena but maybe a criminal investigation can get it to stick.

I think that ship has sailed, as far as indicting Rove in the Plame Affair is concerned.

You’re a lawyer, BrainGlutton?

He pretty clearly stated that what he said was his opinion, and he’s not claiming any special knowledge or expertise, Cisco.

For once, I’d like to have someone call a press conference in the middle of the shit storm and say, “OK, now that I have your attention…here’s what’s really going on.”

Huh? I was commenting on this:

I just wanted to know if BrainGlutton is actually a lawyer. If you read deeper into it than that I assure you you were mistaken. I’m interested in law and considering law school is all.
