Formula One question: quote at opening of Speed coverage

The opening sequence of Speed Channel’s F1 coverage starts with what sounds like vintage audio of a commentator excitedly saying “Nobody has ever seen the finish of a motor race like this!”

The voice is British, but not one of the current commentators, David Hobbs, Steve Matchett, or Peter Windsor. (Or Bob Varsha, who’s American.)

Does anyone know who it is and/or what he is referring to? I presume from its use in the opening that it’s from an important historic race.

Without hearing the actual clip I can’t be sure, but for many years F1 commentary was dominated by Murray Walker. It sounds like his style.

I haven’t seen the start of a Speed Channel F1 show. I’m guessing:

The few who attended that kind of a motor race always went home before the finish.

It’s a new kind of motor race, and it isn’t finished yet.

The drivers and all the onlookers are blind.

I know what you’re referring to. I’m not sure either, but Murray Walker is my current guess, too.

No idea what race in particular is being described. Of course, if it is Walker, it could be just about any of them - he’s known for some pretty hyperbolic exclamations.
