Forum changes coming - feedback needed

When you split the Game Room, how about moving the “Celebrity Death Pool” threads to either Cafe Society or MPSIMS?

Side note: I am sorry to see Straight Dope Chicago de-privileged, but understand the reasons.

Here’s some threads I found on the first pages of GQ, IMHO & MPSIMS, might these be better off in a “The House and Garage Barn”?

Toilet Problems

How do I save this wood cabinet?
What are the contents of most sink drain clogs?

CMC fnord!

There will be lots of threads that won’t quite fit after the move. There isn’t really any reason to worry about the inactive ones. People will still be able to find them in a search. As for the active ones, they can be reported after the move and a Mod can move them.

Exactly my thought.

If I may disagree with the consensus on The Barn House, most questions there seem to be asking for other’s experiences or advice for a specific situation, which seems more suited to IMHO. SDC questions do seem like a better fit for GQ.

That said, I didn’t really follow either forum so no biggie either way.

There’s a grand total of two Barn House threads active in the last week, so giving it any thought beyond about 5 seconds is not worth it.

I still think it’s hella weird to have sports and video games lumped together. It would be so much better to just have a Sports forum, and then let the video game stuff (unless about a sports game, I guess) go in cafe. Games are often more like movies than sports anyway.

On boards with many more forums, I’ve found entire sections that don’t interest me. Since they are setup with subforums, I’m able to hide them, freeing up real estate on my screen for the ones I do care about.

Let me add my approval to the action of asking for feedback, and to the action of working to implement some useful forum adjustments in the process. This bit of attention is a welcome change to the previous perception that the board and members were unimportant and unwanted.

crowmanyclouds, I don’t see much value in fighting for a forum on those themes. Also, the forum list order doesn’t seem very broken to me, with the exception of needing to make the changes Ed proposed.

Well, you know me, Ed, and whatever you decide on I’m against it. I won’t complain, but my displeasure will seethe until I burst. Or I’ll forget about it.

Really, Ed, thanks for asking. I have no problems with what you suggest, though I’d prefer to not have to scroll through the list on Forum Jump to get to the Pit because I’m bone lazy.

Jeez, wait a little longer, not everyone is online all the time, ya know.

My vote would have been for the Chicago stuff to go in MPSIMS not GQ …

Seconded. A dedicated Sports forum would benefit people who love sports, and people like me.

Is this the reason we can’t post in The Game Room?

Oh, stop it. Nothing’s ever going to be perfect for everyone.

Heck, I kin recall whin it wuz jest us folks and we wus discussin’ making that there CaFAY Sercierty. Agin it, I wuz.
