In the Pit they say something about arrows on a blue bar somewhere hiding forums. Sorry I hadn’t noticed that - but I’m rarely very good at (or interested in) exploring options other than what technology initially presents me.

Agreed on both points. I’ve had problems and a run in with Tuba in the past, and I’m no fan of hers, but she’s toned down a lot of the hostility I used to get from her. She’s toned it down for quite some time, in fact. But the complaints about her just grow and grow. Anymore she gets accused of being condescending and angry any time she posts anything. Frankly, I’d have blown a gasket in that pit thread if I’d been in her shoes, but she was polite and reasonable the whole time. I appreciate it.

I’ve had a few interactions with Tuba and they have all be pleasant. I have never had a problem with her. She has always struck me a person that does not suffer fools gladly. maybe that is why I don’t have a problem with her, I am also like that. But like you say she could post in a MPSIMS thread that it was a sunny day at her house and she would catch 7 kinds of shit for it and that post would spawn a pit thread.

I think for the most part, she is pleasant. I could write a more detailed explanation of why I’ve had problems with her in the past, but my whole point is that people should get over it already. I only mentioned the problems to establish that I’m not a personal friend or a sycophant. She’s been thoroughly professional in dealing with recent issues and she clearly does a lot for the boards. I wish Dopers were as quick to cast praise as blame.

i was not a big fan, not because of the subject (although i find it a strange fit to the boards), but because if how it was implemented. i find this a good compromise. better late then never. lets hope Ed that you stick around the boards a little bit more and next time think before you leep.

Excellent solution, Ed. This new area will perhaps quiet the periodic requests in ATMB for this special interest forum or that. In some ways, it may prove to be a more robust area than the “regular” area of Forums, since new ones may come and go with some frequency and in doing so breathe a constant flow of new points of view and forums into the Dope.
