So I was able to create a rule that if the First Post or title of the thread contains “Trump” it will be tagged trump.
Now I have to see if I can apply this to other tags.
Now that is a handy capability. Especially if you can apply this rule retroactively.
Not that I have found yet.

Oh dear semi-deity, I hope so. Because I can’t imagine, even with search tools, @What_Exit having to tag all the Trump threads manually (as he did for the last year’s worth of threads) since he went ‘political’ during the Birther-claims, much less picking up any from even further back for just being a slumlord and his revolving doors of bankruptcy.
IMO if the tag is applied only to the threads that are getting action now that’ll be 90% good enough for 90% of folks’ use cases. I think far more of our users are wanting a way to hide active trump threads than are wanting an easy way to search for the entire oerve of trump threads without exception.
Discourse doesn’t naturally show you much of the “back-catalog” of old stagnant threads until somebody posts to one, thereby bringing it forward in latest, unread, and the relevant category page.
At which point it’s highlighted itself and can readily be trump-tagged by even a modestly watchful and diligent mod. To say nothing of our eagle-eyed and indefatigable modly staff. So in essence the public here will “nominate” trumply threads that are currently important enough to be trumply tagged.
Check the test thread, I’ve got 58 other auto tags set up. I would love to run that over older threads, but I don’t think I can.
Alas for my potential future bridge threads. 
Anyone can tag them as they create their OPs. But I can’t automate Bridge, that would cause a lot of mistaken tags.
No, I’m not looking for that. it was meant to be a joke about threads with titles like “should i have been in 3 no trump?”
Perhaps The Quarantine Zone shouldn’t be retired but instead made into a forum covering everything related to health and medicine (called, naturally, “Health & Medicine”).
I considered making a bridge joke but decided to try to have restraint for once. I don’t do that nearly enough.
I knew you were joking but not being a bridge player, missed the trump joke.
I mentioned that possibility upthread when I semi-seriously re-arranged all the categories for my arbitrary preferences. 
Although I went a step further -
Quarantine moved to and merged into a NEW Category - Health and Medical - because the sheer number of IMHO posts we have about weird, funny, or terrifying medical conditions (again, as we all age) seem more out of place, and more likely to overwhelm our catchall category. So it moves all medical and related matters to one forum.
Not that it was 100% serious, but the mods also indicated they weren’t sure medical inquiries and information would have sufficient traffic to keep the thread active. Although with yet more variants showing up, and some in the medical community suggesting going back to active N95 masking to all “at-risk” folks, who knows.
So the Auto Tagging seems to be working well. Several new Trumps threads all showed up with the trump flag.
I’ll probably slowly expand as new posts go up.

I did do some hunting and pecking and then some research on the Discourse Board. There is no retroactive way to auto-tag pre-existing threads without access to Data Explorer which none of us have on the Mod team. Not worth pursuing at this time. I think the manual addition of older threads with Tags is doing pretty well so far.
