Fostering puppies (pics)

My co-worker Rose had some asshat drop off a mama dog and her pups near her home several weeks ago. After much discussion, it was decided that she would capture the mama and puppies and bring them to me to foster. It took her three weeks of attempts to catch the puppies, but finally she brought them to me (in 3 batches) last weekend. There were 4 pups—all males–but one had serious eye problems and we had to have him put down.

So now are fostering Mama dog and three pups. We already have a home for Jonah. My younger daughter wants to have Shep, so as soon as she gets her own place she will be coming to take him away. Pinkyis going to be a handful; I want him to go to someone who has experience with dogs and who wants a busy companion. Mama dog is already housebroken and is very friendly; she should be a good dog for just about anyone.

Thank goodness my older daughter/roommate is still unemployed and has time to socialize and prepare everyone for new homes.

Puppy fun!

SQUEEEEEE!

Cute babies, cute momma! Good on ya’ for taking them and and fixing them up and finding them homes. How old are they?

Squeeee! I can smell puppy breath from here. Thank you for fostering.

The vet thinks they are between 12 and 14 weeks old. Definitely old enough that they should already have been weaned…Mama dog was putting a lot of energy into those pups! We are enforcing weaning now, which is making her very happy.

I knew if my co-worker didn’t catch them pretty soon they would just be adding to the feral dog problem in her area. They are learning to love people very quickly.
