Foulest soda/pop?

I’ve tried this, and it has an acceptable taste, but it’s a niche product I don’t get…

Caffeine Free Diet Mountain Dew

what’s the point?

The WORST soda I ever had was this cuban soda my friend gave me . I’m not sure of the name , but there was a big Pineapple on the can . Another timw she gave me a soda that she said was " Sugar cane soda " Eww , Needless to say , I dont drink soda at her house anymore.
Oh , yeah. Stop insulting Pepsi blue. It’s the best drink ever !!!

and I’ve had that Beverly soda at the coke thing at epcot , Gross. but the lemon stuff from… I think it was Israel , was the best . Whenever I go to epcot , I walk out of that attraction with about 4 cups of that stuff.

OK, I have to jump in on this thread. Fanta has been mentioned as has tamarind soda. I discovered both of these in Costa Rica and got hooked, luckily they recently re-introduced Fanta (Coke quit selling it here for about 7 years) and I discovered tamarind soda at my local supermarket. Ill agree that tamarind soda probably is a bit of a different taste, its the next best thing to fresh tamarind juice. If only coke would start selling Lift up here, Id be happy (Lift is an apple flavored soda not sold outside of latin america).

But heres my vote: Diet Code Red. Celery soda, moxie, faygo… all have their followers, but not a single person i know can palate Diet Code Red. It may not be the worst out there, but its certainly up there in my book.

Clarrifcation: Diet Code Red is so bad because its available everywhere, you dont have to hunt down its vile tast.

I remember overhearing a conversation back when the stores were closing 7-up Gold out at 99 cents/ 12-pack.

1st Woman, " I don’t care how cheap it is. It tastes like shit."

2nd Woman," Not if you put enough rum in it."

The Puerto Rican standard of living must have improved by a full percentage point that weekend.

7-UP Gold! DOH’!:smack: How could I forget 7-up Gold. It was truely horrible. Not as bad as Moxie, but in the top 5 of the worst of the worst.

IIRC it was a spiced cola. Blech!

I think there is a mexican brand of soda, available in Indiana, whose name escapes me, that makes an apple soda. I have to go get conditioner and mousse yomorrow, so i shall have a chance to tell you more about unique pops.

tomorrow, anyway.

Ginger beer is fab, among the best drinks on earth.

All diet sodas are the drink of Satan to me.

What is Beverly Soda? Someone mentioned the Coke factory, someone mentioned Italy. Is that like that bitter, coke-ish stuff they have there called “Chinotto”?

There is a canned coconut drink in the local Thai restaurant which is sort of glutinous with flakes of coconut suspended it in. Never wanted to try that.

Speaking of coconut and Orbitz, respectively: for some insane reason I had a coconut-flavoured bubble tea with added tapioca on Saturday night before going to a movie at the mall.

I must have been insane. It was artificial coconut flavour. Blech. You’d think that for $3.50 for a ‘small’ size, they’d at least use real coconut.

Apparently the fruit-flavoured versions are much better.

The bubble-tea place was jammed! Obviously enough people like it…

Well, now you’ve found one…

Regular code red tastes like cough syrup. Diet code read is acceptable. Not great, mind you… but I did finish a 2-liter on my own with no ill effects.

Man… I so want to try Moxie and Beverly now… They can’t beat diet celray can they?

The mexican apple soda is Sidret Mundal. It’s great. Bubble tea is good too. The tapioca is an interesting addition but I like it.

I tried Orbitz once and had to close my eyes. It didn’t taste bad, but the texture was strange and I just couldn’t go for it again.

Remember when Slice came in more flavors than orange and lemon/lime? There was an apple Slice and I think cherry too. The apple was good. I haven’t seen Moxie or CelRay in Chicago. Are they more regional or do I just shop at the right stores?

Beverly has “bitter appertif” written on the label if I remember correctly. Yes, it literally tastes like carbonated bile. I can’t imagine CelRay (though that one sounds gross) or Moxie (which sounds intentionally bad but not completely foul) being worse than Beverly. It has that acidy bile aftertaste to it and it isn’t sweet at all. Unfortunately it is too hard to describe now without thinking about having dry heaves so I will let it pass.

For what it is worth, I have been trying to hunt down some Moxie here to drink. One of my friends detests it but he is looking for me also so he can laugh at me when I take a sip from it.

Hang ye thy heads in despair, for I give you…

Yogurt Soda!

I have tasted it. It puts the “horrible” back in “Holy living fuck, that is some horrible soda!”.

Urk! I’ll pass on the yogurt soda, thanks.

I also wish to correct an error I made earlier…the apple soda is Sidral Mundet.

My id-itor regrets any confusion I may have caused.

Sidret Mundal I have tried, but Manzana Lift it is not. I dnno, its quite possibly my favorite.

I don’t like root beer, nor Dr. Pepper.

And it’s available in mint flavour, too!

Heh. You guys hate some of the drinks I absolutely adore

*tamarind soda
*Moxie
*pineapple soda
*spruce beer

I want to nominate the following:

*chrysanthemum soda

*something labelled “Grass Jelly Drink” that I picked up at the Chinese food store. It wasn’t carbonated but it was definitely vile

*Orbitz: those little floating balls had a greasy-oily taste to them

*Jones Cream Soda. I’m not big on their Orange & Creme either (so strange considering how good green apple and fufuberry are).

I know many, many people that go to India and develop a seething hatred for “Thums Up” (but as usual, I love it :)), a licorice flavoured soda.
