Burying an upside down St. Joseph statue on your property is supposed to help you sell your house. I’m not Catholic, but apparently St. Joseph has become the patron saint of ReMax or other real estate firms. You can even buy kits that will include the miniature statue instruct you on how to properly bury it for maximized real estate blessings.
We have lived in our house for about 2 1/2 years. The house was built in the early 80’s and we are the 4th owners, to my knowledge. I’m guessing that one of the former owners called upon St. Joseph to assist them in selling the house…it worked!
But what do you do if you find the little guy? Do I store him away and rebury him when we’re ready to sell the house? I mean clearly he works. Should I drop him off at one of my local parish churches so he can feel at home? Chunk him in the trash? Maybe he’ll help the local landfill get sold.
People don’t actually bury those statues; that’s a just-so story to explain their mysterious appearances. The kits you see in stores are there to bolster the myth, like how you see Santa Claus everywhere in december.
Those statues actually appear on their own. You’ll need to find an exorcist. Preferably before the next full moon, for your own safety.
Definitely. When I went to the open house for the house I bought, I opened a corner cabinet to find a rather large and very nice Blessed Mother Mary statue standing next to a bottle of Windex. I asked the house flipper about it. He says he brings one to every house he works on to bring him luck. I asked him if I bought the house, could I have the statue too. He said sure, and she now stands proudly on a display shelf. Never mind that I’m Jewish. I like her. She’s pretty. And she’s part of the house’s history.
When I moved into a former house the previous owners had not fully cleaned it out. There was a life sized plaster statue of some lady standing on a bed of snakes in the dining room. They did move here after a few days. Dennis
After we moved in here I dug up the entire yard (back yard only, San Francisco) so as to remove the weeds and to put in a patio on part of it and a garden in the rest of it. The only things I ever found were some chew bones buried by some dog, a couple of cans full of cooking grease, and a very small metal cross, maybe 2" tall, with some kind of interesting design on it that I can’t remember. I don’t know what became of that cross, we’ve been here almost 16 years.
I did the St. Joseph statue thing when I listed my old house. Didn’t hurt, anyway. And I did exhume him when the house sold; not sure what I ended up doing with it.
I also exhumed some broken china, and hand trimmers that were rusted solid and no handles - probably wooden, and had rotted off.
I was the 3rd owner; the 2nd owner was there for maybe 5 years, and the previous other for 70!
