So the driver, doing 140kmh in a 100 zone, known to police for various drug offences and allegedly out on bail, was fucked enough to FILM the carnage (after a truck plowed down the victims who were stopped in the emergency lane), left the scene and posted the fucking pics on FB.
The arrest *has *happened. So far he has been charged with:

[li] Reckless conduct endangering life[/li][li] Speeding[/li][li] Failing to remain after a drug test[/li][li] Failing to render assistance[/li][li] Failing to exchange details[/li][li] Possessing a drug of dependence[/li][li] Destruction of evidence[/li][li] Three counts of committing an indictable offence while on bail[/li][/ul](emphasis added… THAT by itself probably means he’s not going anywhere any time soon)
The driver of the reef truck that did smash into the scene causing the deaths apparently remains in hospital and unable to be interviewed.
Yeah, as JRDelirious mentioned, he’s been arrested and will be in court today for the magistrate to determine if he’s going to be detained or released on bail. No question what the outcome will be of course.
So Richard Pusey (or his current moniker, Dick Pussy) is going to be held on remand for the foreseeable future, and I imagine his time in the nick is not going to be all that pleasant somehow.
Not that I think any stint in jail is a nice jaunt around the neighborhood, but is it a thing in Oz for jail guards to abuse those in custody before or even after a trial?
I’m curious about something else. Checking the links upthread, the news was the truck driver had “a medical episode”. Is the thinking that’s what cause the driver to hit the police?
The driver was released from hospital and charged with four counts of culpable driving causing death last night, we’ll know more after his hearing
As for prison guards, well there are certainly some thugs amongst them, when I worked for a lefty organisation that had me going in to prison on a regular basis I was certainly left in some risky situations, more a “we’re not watching” than a “we’re going to hurt you ourselves” thing. That is often the way it works and it is shameful. Someone who killed or abused dying cops is likely to have some issues.
