Four Door Porsche = shit

isnt cutting it for me, just looks like a standard car, price is alot as well(kinda to be expected though)

i usually love porsches

Looks like they want to swat the 535 crowd. Better be plenty fast for $50K more.

I think it looks about as good as a sports sedan can. Naturally those photos emphasze the long hood. I’d like to see striaght-on front, rear, and side views.

i dont really mind the front and sides, the back looks horrible!!

To the OP: do you also hate the Cayenne?

He may not hate it. After all, he may be blind.

I actually like this 4-door. Seriously folks, there are two groups of people in the world, those who like the Porche and those who don’t.

I like them.

I do not consider the Cayenne a Porche as a traditional Sports car afficionado.

I love Porsches.

I just hate any car designed after 2004, generally. The body styles have become too “big” in general. This jellybean shape has taken over. I don’t care how much they try to spin it as being aerodynamic, sleek or “curvy.” It’s curvy the way 300-pound women claim to be “curvy” - i.e. not in a good way. Some of this trend can be blamed on hack designer Chris Bangle, whose clumsy styling for the BMW line has made his name a joking synonym for “bungle” among certain car people; I’m sure there are many other design-department sycophants to blame also. But I think this new 4-door Porsche really looks mediocre. It looks like a Cayenne that has been squashed down a little bit.

I also drove past a new Dodge Challenger on the way back from Louisville - it looked like a cheap toy. I appreciate that they’re trying to bring back old styles, but every time they do, there’s always something “off” about the styling that jolts you back into 2009 - generally unnecessary “bulkiness” especially around the front end and the rear, but sometimes other things as well.

I realize there will always be people who prefer performance to aesthetics. Ideally I would like a car to have both, but between the two of them I think the aesthetics are more important.

i dont like it that much either to be honest, doesnt look as bad as this

A lot of purists screamed bloody murder when Porsche first announced the Cayenne. If I’m not mistaken it’s now the biggest seller by a substantial margin and is an extremely well designed and capable vehicle. Some sports cars can “touch” it but few if any other SUVs can. It’s given Porsche the capital to pursue performance technology in ways they couldn’t have before.

There’s a substantial market out there that want Porsche performance but because of family or business obligations find a two-seater impractical. The Cayenne and Panamera provide them with that opportunity. Yeah, I’d rather have a 966 but getting a four seater didn’t come near having to settle.

The entire car, even the rear looks exactly like what I’d expect a Porsche sedan, anything of this generation, to look like. However, I suspect that like other Porsches you think they’re much more beautiful after you experience first hand what they can do. Appreciation breeds ardor.

Hear, hear. I like pretty much all Porsches. I think the only issue I have with this new one is the name. Panamera. I think they should have branded it a numerical name instead, starting with a “4” to indicate the number of doors or something.

So, is the Panamera, Boxter and Cayenne the only Porsches that don’t have a numerical name?

FTR, my favorite Porsche has always been the 928 S4. Something about it, I guess.

And Argent Towers, you don’t like the new Challenger? Huh. I think it’s incredibly cool looking and very evocative of the 1960’s era cars.

To each their own.

There’s also the Cayman which, IMHO, sounds waaay too much like Cayenne. While I never get their essence mixed up, I’m always calling one by the other.
