FOURTH accident at the Broadway show Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark

My wife and I saw the very last show before it was “re-tooled.” I had purchased tickets several months in advance, and then watched as every day some new disaster occurred on the set. As our NY trip approached, it was unclear if the show was even going to be still playing when we got there. It turned out that the performance we saw - Sunday April 17th at 2pm, was the last show before they went dark for 2 months to try to save it.

Our opinion was that as a play it was pretty bad - unmemorable story, and boring music (a real disappointment, considering who was involved). However, it would have made a marvelous circus act - the wire work was great, and made seeing it worthwhile.

In other news, even Sesame Street is making fun of the musical.

Now, Spider-Monster, that I would pay good money to see.

I realized while watching the Tonys on Sunday that I don’t even have MORBID curiosity about this musical. I just have no desire to see it whatsoever. Which is kind of weird, since I’m a Broadway queen…

Ben Brantley’s new review. The gist of it is “It’s no longer horrible, but it’s still boring.”

Snippets from other reviews. This is a musical that has been in the spotlight for over a year now, so where is the memorable music? I’ve heard nothing that stands out so far.

I Just listened to the two big numbers from the show on You Tube-“Rise Above” and “Boy Falls From The Sky”. “Rise Above” sounds like a B-side from a 90’s Bono album, and “Boy Falls From The Sky” is whiny emo-crap that isn’t even hummable, let alone singable.

Here we go again. New injury Aug 15, 2013:
