This link is one of your biggest screwups yet, SA. It says the exact opposite of what you claim.
In the 50s, people didn’t check cites. Just another example of how liberals have ruined America over the last fifty years!
Actually, you threw that charming anecdote into a thread about Sarah Palin being “proven right” about Death Panels, but then accuracy was never your strong suit.
Except that I’m pretty sure you were eight before those liberals ruined American society. Also, in the Death Panels thread, you waxed eloquently about how nice it was in the 50s that a teenager could have sex with an adult with nobody thinking it was a big deal.
(Figuring out a coherent worldview from SA’s positions is left as an exercise for the reader.)
Do I detect a note of sarcasm?
Current odds:
4-1: SA will claim it’s another example of his wacky sense of humor
5-2: SA will pull out the “Your calling me an idiot just shows how overwhelming my arguments must be” routine
even: SA will disappear from this thread only to pull out the same arguments in a different thread on the grounds that, sure he was discredited the last 499 times he tried the same old same old, but there’s always hope for the 500th
I think he just doesn’t remember. Always has the same “gotcha!” enthusiasm, like we’re gonna be totally floored. Getting a mite long in the tooth, doncha know.
Depends on who you choose to believe I suppose.
But, but, what about the pregnancies in the other schools I mentioned? Don’t they count? Don’t the societal factors that led to them count? How come you guys always focus on some minor aspect of the discussion and ignore the big ones?
The thread may have been about death panels but the discussion when I posted that was about the effect that sex in entertainment, the media and in school has in sexualizing young children, as exemplifed by the behavior of the second-graders in the story I linked to. And you perfectly well know that. Guess I’ll have to mark you down as one of the board’s more dishonest posters.
And now I do to have to go. Sorry, but sometimes errands do take precedence.
Allow me to translate: “Shown to be a fool, I will now run away like a silly bitch.”
What I don’t get is why more people don’t realize Murdoch was not born in America and had a sex change after it was discovered he had three testicles in addition to an ovary. Is the maim-stream media trying to hide this?
Labelled as dishonest by SA. Now I understand the burning shame xtisme must feel everytime **gonzomax **calls him stupid.
Woe is me. Woe. Double up, woe woe*.
(*That is what Sir Mix-A-Lot was referring to, right?)
As an Iowan, as a rural Iowan, as an elderly rural Iowan I find it reassuring and confirming of my often shattered faith in the common sense of Midwesterners that a super-majority of my GOP Caucus attending neighbors and acquaintances are not persuaded that our President is an adherent of an alien faith which rejects the principles of Western Liberal Democracy. In the past a guy could walk into any GOP Caucus and find a strong minority who were convinced that black helicopters were being guided across the countryside by markings on the reverse of road signs (other than the bullet holes) and that the Chinese would shortly occupy the Panama Canal. That some 40% persist in error ought not to be a surprise.
The views of our little buddy from Minnesooota notwithstanding.
Well, that’s not quite fair. I’ve lived amongst them for many years, and I can assure you that the efforts to seal Minnesota’s southern border are inspired by strictly hygenic concerns.
Have you been to Albert Lea? Have you sampled the putrid waters of the Shell Rock River ?
Because I believe in determinism (cause and effect) I’m suspicious of statements like “[ethnic group A] suffers from [flaw B].” Why do they suffer the flaw, and what can be done about it? Americans have no general genetic defect. Their diet isn’t so bad as to make them “happy to be ignorant.” How does it make sense to blame an entire people?
Looked at this way, I think the quote above almost answers itself: “when you try to educate them”. No one is trying to “educate” them more than Rupert Murdoch, and he is succeeding fantabulously. (To be a consistent determinist, I can’t really “blame” Murdoch either – he’s also a product of cause and effect – but at least identifying problems may point us toward corrective action.)
If you imply that such ignorance doesn’t effect the electability of Obama and other rationalists, I think you’re wildly wrong.
Those people are dumb! I mean obviously if the guy is Muslim you should trust him on Egypt.
Well…sorta. The Dem and Pub parties choose our presidents. We just pick the cutest one.
They’re defending the truth and attacking ignorance.
It’s that simple.
One would expect that, if one was a fucking moron.
Chesterton, wasn’t it? Not that Christianity was tried and found wanting, it was found difficult and not tried.
Nietzsche said there has really only been one Christian, and he died on the cross.
He was Jewish (not Nietzsche ).
I was there 10 years after you. I’d love to change the world, but I’m not coming home.
