Fox news has restored my faith

No, people with dissenting opinions are welcome to speak their mind. Daschle can say whatever he wants. However, it is my opinion that he should be supporting our commander in chief rather than whining. And because I voiced my opinion people are coming to the conclusion that he shouldn’t be allowed to speak out, and that would be an incorrect conclusion.

Could someone please provide a link to this?

Lissa, I’d like to provide a link to the speech I refered to. Unfortunately, when I searched for an online transcript, I found that Fox News would require me to join their website and pay for a transcript of that evening’s episode. If anyone already subscribes to the site, or has another source, the broadcast was on the evening of March 20.

float_flyer’s attitude is one that many non-Americans find very difficult to comprehend. Daschle opposes the war. Why the hell should he get behind the Prez because a “decision for action” has been made? I would hope that politicians of any nationality would debate and criticise when they oppose the governement’s actions. How long does the “decision” situation last? How about if a new “decision for action” is made WRT Iran or North Korea. Should Daschle still keep his gob shut? Can GWB continue taking “decisions for action” and people like float_flyer continue asking politicians who are opposed to them to keep their opinions to themselves? Sounds more like China to me, rather than the world’s greatest democracy.

Daschle tried to have it both ways. He voted for an open-ended resolution to give Bush the sanction to do whatever he wanted regarding hostilities, never mind Congressional war powers and a full, open debate on a war declaration. Then he griped about Bush’s failure of diplomacy leading to war. Now he’s “behind the troops” because of perceived political necessity. He’s lost a big chunk of credibility due to behaving like a hack politician.

Careful, float_flyer. You’re “marginalizing” poor Mr. Daschle.

My suport for the war is conditional. I support it on the condition that it will save more lives than it will cost. And that it will send a message to countries thinking about, or currently harbouring terrorist scum.

And I forgot to mention - I consider myself a leftie too.
