Listening to Marketplace and they are saying that the decision has been made and they are working out the details.
Whoa.
Listening to Marketplace and they are saying that the decision has been made and they are working out the details.
Whoa.
One down, literally everyone else in that organization to go.
Not yet confirmed, but then, CNN is not usually on top of the news:
[New York magazine correspondent Gabriel] Sherman also reported that the owners of 21st Century Fox, the Murdochs, “have decided to remove” Ailes, but have not determined exactly when or how.
CNN has not independently verified the report.
In a statement responding to Sherman’s report, 21st Century Fox pointedly did not rule out corporate action against Ailes, but said such action would be premature.
“This matter is not yet resolved and the review is not concluded,” the statement said.
From “CNN Money”, sorry, I closed the tab and lost the link.
Bloomberg is reporting it as well.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer scumbag.
Looks as though the tipping point was when Megyn Kelly said that Ailes has sexually harassed her. Fox can’t afford to lose Kelly and gave Ailes the option to resign or be fired.
Not that he’ll suffer one whit, but fuck that misogynistic, lecherous, predatory fat fuck.
Whoa! That is an interesting read. It says he has until Aug 1 to resigning or be fired for cause and that his team has not yet responded.
News that’s good for what ailes us.
Brian Stelter did discuss this on CNN, said that Ailes leaving Fox is HUGE.
The thing that I think most frustrates me is the special treatment he gets.
If I sexually harassed someone at work, I would expect to be fired within the hour. If one of the Fox anchors sexually harassed someone else, they’d be gone in a day. But Ailes does it, and he’s negotiating his exit package. I’m sorry, your exit package should be “don’t let the door hit your ass one the way out!”
Uh, male Fox anchors have done it on air and are still there.
I mis-read the headline, and thought he had been outed and imagined a million gay men recoiling in disgust.
There are rumors that a lot of (male) Fox anchors are meeting to quit Fox News and go start something up with Ailes. One key name is Bill O’Reilly, who very recently indicated he was thinking of retiring.
The “retiring” thing may be his way of moving out with the others. He’s a crucial cornerstone of Fox News’ ratings.
A lot of the male Fox News hosts are blatantly sexist and don’t want to be part of an organization where they won’t be able to express their bias on and off the air.
Glenn Beck could be part of the new venture as well.
It would be interesting if the end of Fox News’ dominance is from internal fracturing.
