Well, you guys can either keep bitching about it on a message board, or be proactive and buy one of these.
The fox blocker cite isn’t loading for me, but please tell me that it’s a set of rabbit ears and the whole thing is a whoosh. Do not tell me that somebody was… I don’t know what enough to actually build a device for the sole purpose of blocking fox news.
Heh heh. She just said jerk off. Heh.
Yeah, but he also liked to
lay around the shanty
and put a good buzz on.
They couldn’t get Sylvia Brown cause they couldn’t afford her. ha! Strangely, I am watching Animal Cops. They are going all out to save these animals which were aandoned in a house and were dehydrating and needing food. And the owner was actually in trouble for this. And here its okay to do it to a human. Food for thought. Food for thought.
I would highly recommend that you not watch Star Trek Nemesis while that image is lingering in your brain. Unless, of course, you like the thought of seeing Riker on top of Edward, pounding away for all he’s worth at Edward’s “gloryhole.”
Well, this is the site. It’s a new story so I’m sure it’s busy. It’s basically a cylinder (remember the old HBO descramblers?) that connects the coax to the tv. Only $8.95! (God, I’m gonna laugh if this is a hoax)
Anyway, for everyone sick of the channel, DO something about it! Block the signal from your home entirely! Lest little Johnnie or Suzy stumble upon it while looking for Stern or Springer.
This product will save the CHILDREN!!!

Daily Kos has a few notes on the apparently growing rabid and dangerous quality of opponents of Michael and Terri Schiavo, several of whom are considering killing others in support of the Culture of Life.

Are they whipping people into a frenzy? How can we address such a problem?
You address them the same as any other criminal. We live in a nation of what, 300 million people? There are going to be a few nuts.
Hasn’t the White House been fired upon while both Bush and Clinton were President? It ain’t politics. It’s about the fruitcakes that look for reasons to act out. And it will always happen.
Psychosis has been around for centuries. They need little reason to see a need to fight anyone and anything. And it has nothing to do with what’s on TV. It could be a video game, malfunctiong dishwasher or a dust bunny.
No, I have to disagree with you. By now they have at least earned sub-forum or mini-forum status of some kind as a division of the Pit
They have been Pitted more times than Jack Chick, George W. Bush and December combined.
Were any of them in a PVS?
Well, like I said in my OP, I’ve already managed to do that, and it didn’t even require an $8.95 device–I do it by not having cable. I can’t remember the last time I laid eyes on the channel.
Lots of people do, though, and then they come to message boards spouting outright falsehoods that they got from Hannity, O’Reilly, or even Fox’s various purportedly news-bearing anchorchoads.
So the usual “change the channel!” bullshit won’t fly here.
Yeah, but has he ever threatened to eject a Romulan into space???
I didn’t expect it to, that’s why I didn’t say it. If it’s truly all bullshit, people will recognize it and it’ll go by the wayside. There’s disinformation on every channel, and to single out Fox News seems disingenuous.
However, if their spin sells better than yours, maybe it’s because your opinion is in the minority overall. I watch both Fox and CNN. I see bias in both. One to the left, one to the right. Guess which one I enjoy watching more? Guess which one has the better ratings?
Rant all you want. It sounds like the base feeling is, “But I don’t like them!”
Quote:
CNN is reporting that the FBI has arrested a North Carolina man for offering, via the internet, a reward of $200,000 for the murder of Michael Schiavo, and an additional $50,000 for the murder of Judge Greer. (Link when it becomes available.)
Apparently the “culture of life” is expensive business.
I’d much rather help to sponsor a nightly program that has the sole purpose of exposing Fox’s lies and propaganda techniques (two different things).
I strongly believe in First Amendment Rights. At the same time, I see that the media in this country is owned by few and fewer corporations. It becomes crucial for citizens to be aware of which news stations and broadcasts are blatantly using techniques of propoganda that were spelled out back when Fox was just a movie studio.
Having a slight slant to the Right or Left on a program is one thing – undesireable, but sometimes it happens. An example might be the use of the word “The President claims” instead of the the words "the President said.". But intentional lying, distortion, disinformation, misinformation, and the use of propoganda in news programming are subversive to a free society. Failure to retract and apologize when a mistake has been made is another bad sign.

History indicates otherwise. I am old enough to remember the House Committe on UnAmerican Activities and the McCarthy Hearings that were on television and what that did to our country. An entire nation was frightened and intimidated into silence and made fearful of their neighbors. Finally, one newsman, a Southerner from the Carolinas, named Edward R. Murrow, had the gumption to call bullshit.
As idiotic as it may sound, some people actually turn to Fox as their main source of information. That is frightening.
My latest small gripe with Fox was their question of the day yesterday: Is it Mercy or is it Murder?
No class at all.
Considering the polarizing effect this case is having, it seems a fair poll. Every news source I’ve seen has a similar one. What’s the problem? The wording? It seems it’s either one or the other (given only 2 choices).
Maybe you should contact the news outlets and let them know what questions are asked and how they’re worded. I’m not being snarky, but if that adds to your hate of Fox, let them know that you know best.
It appears about five minutes into this Jon Stewart show clip.
I would actually encourage those who hate what Fox is doing to watch/read their stuff from time to time. I knew they were shills, but didn’t realize the extent of it til I checked out some links on this board. Now I keep occasional tabs.
If we turn our backs, that’s to their advantage.
As for folks getting all their news from Fox, I recently was in a household where Fox news stayed on the (very large and prominently positioned) TV all day. They just left it on.
What’s even more dangerous is this… A woman at work said recently that her mother had expressed some doubts about Bush’s Social Security plan. So she told her mother to stop watching network news (other than Fox) because it was all propaganda paid for by the liberals, and it’s just “not true”!
