I get it, you don't like Fox News!

Yes, I get it. I understand you think it’s one big republican propoganda machine. You know, it probably is. But guess what? I’m tired of hearing you tell me, over and over, in every fucking thread, whenever Fox News is cited for whatever reason.

It always goes something like this:

“I saw a story about cat flavored dog food on Fox News.”

“Fox News isn’t real news, it’s Faux News! LOLROTFL!”

SHUT THE FUCK UP! Whether you like it or not, Fox is a big media player, and it’s going to be mentioned a lot in your lifetime. I don’t need to hear your dumb little puns and snarky comments EVERY FUCKING TIME.

Thanks.

I declare this rant FAIR and BALANCED.

You left off the trademark!

Now that you mention it, Fox News *does * suck!

You don’t get it at all. People don’t pit Fox News because they dislike it. They pit Fox News because they lie. You also have to know that Fox New lies. This is not an opinion. We don’t think they lie. They do lie. What you need to know is that there really are these things called “facts” that are independent of judgment. You also have to know that Fox News willfully neglects to present these facts, or knowingly tells lies, because they have an agenda. We don’t “think” they have an agenda. They DO have an agenda. They admit they have an agenda.

Nobody gives a shit if they are a “big media player.” That doesn’t mean they are telling the truth.

What I hate isn’t Fox News, though. I don’t watch it. What I hate are the emasculated and ovine people who who watch and believe it and then react to people who criticize it.

Okay, I get it. You think people who think fox news suck suck.

Whether you like it or not, Fox News is a big media player. That means when they are overly partisan or way off base in the fact department (see their Terry Schiavo coverage as a fine example), people are going to get pissed off and pit threads will result.

Best thing that you can do is not open the threads. Just move on.

Thanks.

Top story at Fox: Carnick, a notorious hater of the great United States of America and kicker of puppies, ranted today about the state of affairs on the SDMB. Experts say he is “way out of line and possibly treasonous.”

Hot damn, cricetus. I’ve been noticing your pit posts lately and you’ve been on a fuckin’ roll. You’ve been so succinct that you’ve even ripped into ME, and I agree with you. “There really are these things called ‘facts’ that are independent of judgment.” Keep up the good work.

In the meantime, I’ve always hypothesized that the more someone asserts something, the more likely it isn’t true. As such I spit at “fair and balanced.” Got something to prove, eh guys?

FOx News.

“We distort, you deride.”

Thanks, K. I pitted you? What about? Your application of mind-control bugs to the ears of the crew of the Star Trek Enterprise? Because, you know, that was pretty shitty.

Yeah!, its like, ya know, Fox News is the corinthian leather of information.

I’m not sure whether the degree to which you people missed the point of Carnick’s post is more amusing than it is pathetic. As usual on here, in one ear and out the other. His point was, explicitly, that the people who continue to make their “point” about what’s wrong with Fox News not only have nothing new to say, but that they’re also neither informing nor convincing anyone about something that is already a rather well-documented fact.

He wasn’t defending Fox News. He’s telling the people who feel the need to tell us about Fox News to shut the fuck up because you’re more annoying than the people who actually believe and/or support the Fox News network. Who is the bigger fool? The Fox News supporter or the SDMB poster that constantly feels the need to remind us that the Fox News supporter is a fool?

:: whooshing sound as this thread flies over the heads of cricetus, harborwolf, zetafunction and khan ::

No, you didn’t pit me. I’m just saying that I thought what you’ve been saying has been particularly profound.

But then, perhaps someone slipped ME a Ceti Eel?

Well sure, if you mean threads where the OP is pitting Fox News. I think the OP meant the snarky comments that pop up in other threads where someone cites Fox News.

An example or two from the OP of what he means would be helpful.

Are you being sarcastic, or are you actually asking for cites? Just check out this thread. I cited a Fox News poll (horrors!) and two people felt they needed to respond with a snarky comment and nothing else to say. Here they are:

This happens whenever Fox News is mentioned. It’s old. It’s annoying. Like anamnesis said, it’s just as tiresome as hearing Sean Hannity tirade about 9/11. Here’s another one:

This comment I don’t mind, since it has actually has some substance. See the difference?

No, I’m not defending Fox, but singling them out from the other news media machines and calling them liars is like picking the smelliest turd in an out house.

You forgot baby eater.

I love Fox News. I only discovered it a few months ago. One channel here has it on during the graveyard hours so it is the morning Fox stuff eg: Fox and Friends.

It’s HELL on my insomnia! I started watching it to fall asleep and then got all caught up in the sit-com-ish-ness ( ).

Apparently this week NOTHING has happened ANYWHERE in the world unless it was about Terri.

I love to watch the Fox and Friends “news” headlines and then flip to the BBC. Generally it goes like this.

FOX-“This giant huge news event happened (Terri this week). We cross now to Sen X who will just repeat what I said…That’s right Julia, You just said what I was going to say about the giant huge news event, I would just like to paraprase what you said before passing back to you…WOW really Senator X? That’s incredible. Just to sum up Senator X said what I just said but in different words”. This all takes 10 minutes.

BBC- News headlines involving at least 8 countries in the same 10 minutes.

Why do I watch Fox? It’s usually 2am. Fox sitcom is good to go nigh nighs to. I find it hard to believe that anyone uses it as their major news source though.

I got the whoosh. I just thought it was retarted. Half of the posts in Great Debates and maybe a quarter in the pit are people saying how biased the other persons cites are. It isn’t as if Fox News is the only cite that people roll their eyes about. I wonder if there is one place you could cite that someone wouldn’t dismiss with claims about bias.

You want something to bitch about? Bitch about the fact that a good deal of posters simply ignore cites that disagree with them by waving the magic liberal/conservative bias wand and treating it as a reasonable argument.

Actually both sides lie, even hear of Dan Rather? At least Fox admits they have a agenda, which is more honest then Dan’s network who claim to be objective.

Also the right and left views the world differently, and what one side would consider a lie the other would consider it a fact - this works both ways. We don’t and can’t have perfect knowledge.

Now listen up, BOTH sides lie sometimes, BOTH sides got caught in lies, BOTH sides also report the news, one from a LEFT POV the other from the RIGHT POV. There are cases that one side would consider something a lie while the other would not. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS OBJECTIVE MEDIA, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Fox is just a part of the new media, which was born on AM talk radio, and flew under the radar for decades, slowly it grew because it countered the LIES of the conventional media. With the internet it exploded and is here to stay.

Get over it and Move on (dot org :D)

You chose to use Fox as a source, and then are astonished when some deride the value of Fox as a source? Sorry, can’t get on board. The derision may or may not be accurate, but it’s certainly appropriate.
