I get it, you don't like Fox News!

Yeah, just give up and accept the fact that most of your news will soon be horse shit partisan hackery.

I’m sorry but I really don’t have a sense of humor about this. I wanted to be a journalist growing up. I idolized Edward R. Murrow. Now “fair and balanced” is practically a copyright and “truth” is something put in quotation marks.

Don’t worry though. Now both sides of the isle have their own news outlets. If the news makes you feel bad, you can change the station until you find the news broadcast that makes you feel a little better.

Anybody who needs news that only appeals to their political sensibilities is a fucking moron.

What always amazes me is that the people who hate it know so much about it. The stuff I hate, I just don’t watch.

I agree with you in general, that truly objective media is impossible. However, I’ve yet to find any “leftist” media outlet that lies so deliberately and shamelessly as Fox News.

The issue might be people using Fox News as a cite and expecting it to be reputable.

Michael Moore is a filmmaker and gadfly who has never once tried to hint that he isn’t biased.

Fox News is a supposedly legitimate news organization whose very slogan is that they are “Fair and Balanced”.

Not the same.

He’s got his own channel now?

MMTV! Moore news, Moore facts, Moore discussion than any other so-called “news” network! MMTV tackles the tough issues on Moore-ality! Why settle for just the truth when you can have Moore truth than ever before?

It’d be a hit.

Are you actually bothering to read my posts, or are you just seeing the words “Fox News” and shrieking without putting in an ounce of cognitive thought? Why does that sound familiar?

I’ll say it again. I am NOT defending Fox News. The point of my OP is how I’m sick of the chuckleheads who throw in their one-lined, non-substanced, snarky remarks with ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ELSE TO SAY. Kinda like you.

And now since kanicbird had to mention Rather and Garfield226 had to mention Moore, this thread can now turn into a typical network bias screaming match. Have fun!

I’ll admit your initial post was too subtle for me.

Thanks Anamnesis for straighening me out.

I promise, though, to try to learn from my mistake.

The Fox News Supporter is obviously far more foolish. If someone keeps repeating cites from a known liar, why am I a bigger fool for rejecting each and every claim from the known liar? I would say the bigger fool is the one who keeps tuning into the lies and keeps repeating the lies. The only grounds for calling the other person a fool is that the first fool is beyond hope or redemption.

If you’ve been watching a lot of Fox News, I think it’s obvious why “shrieking” without “an ounce of cognitive thought” would be familiar. Now, let me ask you – what, exactly, is non-cognitive thought?

As long as people try to support arguments with lies from a known liar, we will reject them because they are lies issued by a known liar. You may call it “snarky,” but what would you presume is the alternative? That, because our objections to the lies from the known liar have become boring to carnick, we should just start accepting any and all lies and fallacious arguments, testimonies from psychics, and whatever else they throw at us?

You seem to be holding both sides of that “typical network bias screaming match:”

Which is exactly why you’ve falled into their trap. Most news sources trie halfway to tell the truth, but Fox doesn’t bother. What they hope, besides lulling total idiots into their evil propoganda machine, is to baffle people in the middle, make them think the truth is halfway between the truth and the lies, or abandon all hopes of knowing the truth. You’re exactly what they want.

As long as they tell lies on the air, we’ll call them liars. So brace yourself, carnick. Our mission is fighting ignorance, and calling out the liars is part of that mission. Pleasing carnick is very low on my list of priorities.

Oh you keep up with that vigilant mission, you rebel you. Keep preaching to the SDMB choir from your computer desk. Why the hell do you keep switching between third and first person when talking to me? Maybe cricetus missed carnick’s point, once again.

Good for you, you little crusader you! Now if only you would be as vigilant when it comes to the NYT, BBC, CBS, et cetera. Giving 99% of the media a free pass doesn’t do much for your credibility, you know.

Who says they get a free pass? The NY Times and BBC don’t insult my intelligence, and they don’t lie outright. The lies of Fox News are well documented. Your repeated claims that the rest of the media lies for the left is completely unsupported. It’s just another lie Fox News has drilled into you.

Just because I’m not somehow cowed by your posts doesn’t mean I don’t understand them. You seem to missing a pretty big boat yourself. You will keep declaring that the lies of Fox are equivilent to the lies of other networks. I do not believe this to be true, nor do I think you’ve demonstrated that it is true.

Cricetus, there hasn’t been a single person in this thread who hasn’t sided against Fox News … yet you’ve gone on to browbeat the OP and shout from your soapbox about how necessary you feel it is to tell the very fools you refer to that their news source is less reliable than what, pulling a statistic out of their ass? Yeah, I know, bad example, Fox News already pulls their statistics out of their ass? I bet you were gonna respond to that statement by saying “well, Fox News DOES pull statistics out of their ass” … guess what? We know. You don’t need to tell us. Again.

The point of the OP is that your type is exceedingly annoying, even to the people who are on your side. I used to work for a man just like you … it was a shame too, because our politics weren’t necessarily different, but his ability to annoy the fuck out of people with his constant vitriol for Fox News made him incapable of having a normal conversation with anyone. When people rolled their eyes at him and changed subjects after more than a few moments of his pissing and moaning about Fox News, he didn’t quite understand why nobody jumped up onto the soapbox with him. Doesn’t the fact that it’s so easy to punch holes in the Fox News agenda tell you something about why it’s childish, condescending, presumptuous, tiring, and annoying?

Much like my boss, I feel you still don’t get the point of the OP here either. It’s obvious he doesn’t look to Fox News as his world almanac anymore than you do, and you have to keep preaching the same sermon to the choir every time. Good luck with that.

Where did I declare that? Are you talking about my smelliest turd comment? I said that more as a comment on the state of the media as an entirety rather than a means to defend Fox News.

Not to mention that Moore doesn’t lie. He misleads, he suggests connections that may not be there, but he doesn’t create numbers out of thin air.

First of all, prior to this thread, I don’t know I’ve ever posted about the veracity of Fox News. Second of all, my point to the OP, and to you, is the same regardless of whether you are against Fox News or only against people complaining about Fox News. We’ll keep bitching about them as long as they lie. If you don’t like it, don’t log in.

Could you please provide some of that documentation?
