Fragrance Oils, Aromatherapy, Linen Fragrance

I’ve seen the Bed Bath and Beyonds and Linens and Things crawling with fancy bottles of fragrant water that you add to your laundry to add in Lavender or “fresh meadow” or whathaveyou to your laundry.

I have a ton of frangrance oils that I make bathsalts with that I got at Whole Foods. My question is…if I add a few drops of Lavender to the wash water before throwing my sheets in will it have the same effect?

I suspect oil staining, but five drops in a whole thingee? I don’t know.

And has anyone used those linen fragrances? I don’t want to spend 18 bucks on a bottle if it’s crap.

I don’t know. I’d expect it to get washed away or overwhelmed by your detergent. I would instead try 5-10 drops on a small rag and put it into the dryer with your clothes. Or a few drops on a Kleenex or rag and stored with the folded sheets in your closet.

What WhyNot said. Fragrancestores often sell carriers for perfumeoils that will give off fragrance longer then a piece of cloth. Like pieces of wood or absorbent stone thingies. You could make those yourself too, of course.

I use the linen water and cammomile water all the time and it lasts quite a long time.

When I iron my shirts, I spray them lightly with the linen water. Not only does it help de-wrinkle the shirts but the scent makes my closet smell great too. It’s pretty strong so I like to cut it in half with bottled or distilled water. Make ironing a little like an aroma-therapy experience too.

The cammomile spray is great for bed sheets, pillows, or just as a pleasant room spray from time to time.

I find it’s well worth the money. BTW, it’s only like $8 per bottle at my local BB&B.
