No, never owned a copy. I think the first few records I bought as a tween/teen were Certified Gold, one of those “as seen on TV” collections, and Back in Black by AC/DC.
Ah. I see that came from Wayne’s World 2, which strangely enough I haven’t seen.
The quote is true though. Mike Myers is Canadian and about my age.
I have owned it in several formats.
I didn’t need to… all my friends had it, and many of the tracks got played on the radio. As with Fleetwood Mac’s Rumors, it was a solid record with good musicianship on display and all that, but didn’t really grab me. I didn’t walk around with Frampton earworms, didn’t crave hearing the tracks.
no and I also did not have the famous Farah Fawcett poster. But at my HS a guy did that poster in chalk on the board and it was pretty much an exact copy. Very talented artist.
Sure, I had it, but was dust as soon as I got my grubby paws on I’m In You.
Still doesn’t quite measure up, though, to Fiesta Comes Alive, chronicling the wholesome annual Gilman Street event. (That was '97 - I was lucky to be present at the '99 one)
Splendid ditties abound, here, like Excruciating Terror’s Addiction and Man Is the Bastard’s Semen In the Eye Socket of Thomas Lenz.
I did not have a copy. There was really no need, as a cut from the album seemed to be on the radio every half-hour.
No; after the first listen or two i couldn’t stand his use of a talk box so never even considered buying a copy.
It came out when I was a senior in high school, but I never owned a copy. For one thing, the radio stations played the songs from it so often Hell wouldn’t have them. I also thought it wasn’t that good.
Over the years, as I’ve heard the songs again, I’ve come to the conclusion that some of them are truly classics, but I doubt I’ll ever own a copy.
Sort of this, I inherited my brothers DVD/CD collection so I have tons of stuff that isn’t to my personal taste. When I get the chance, I am going to sort out the stuff I want to keep and donate the rest to the base library in New London.
Yep, and like** Lucas Jackson** I’d already had my fill of Pete Frampton. I’d bought Comes Alive’s predecessor, Winds of Change, which was only okay (the title track and, uhh… “Plain Shame”?). The big radio hits just sounded dumb, and were made super dumb by the electronic gimmick.
My dad owned it, but I listened to it nearly every day during high school. I think I have “Do You Feel” memorized.
Though I agree with the OP that back in the 70’s it seemed like everyone had it, I didn’t. Still don’t.
Never been much into him. Saw him in concert twice, but I go to a lot of concerts (at least 20 per year) and occasionally for an act I’m not completely crazy about. He does come to play and gives the audience their moneys worth, I’ll give him that wholeheartedly.
I had to deal with him and his crew once in a LEO capacity. If being a dick were a crime he’d be on death row.
Loved it. Played it till the vinyl wore down a bit.
Great moments, not just the hit songs.
He’s a fuckin’ genius.
Leaffan is a racist little faggot cunt
Ah yes. Deep cut, that one. Killer solo.
College nighttime routine -
one hit on the pipe
Do You Feel on headphones
Head for bed
I never had any of his albums, and he was too pop for a “cool” teen like me, but a date happened to take me to a Peter Frampton concert in 1977, when this album was everywhere. It was a good show, and the first rock concert I’d ever been to.
