Franco Frustration

So I have been seeing some teaser trailers for the new movie Annapolis starring James Franco. I really like this guy and it looks like he has quite a big year coming up. He is one of the most underrated actor in Hollywood these days. Is anyone a Franco fan? Anyone heard anything about this movie?

Honestly, I’m just happy the beautiful Jordana Brewster is getting a big-screen role. Mmm, Brewster.

Franco I like too, he did well in the Spider-movies and I think he has more to offer than, say, Orlando Bloom or Paul Walker.

You might want to have a mod change the thread title. I thought I could come in here, drop a quick little bon mot–“You’re frustrated that he’s STILL dead?” was what I was going to go with–and bungee-cord out of here.

But you’re talking about James, not Francisco. Ah.

According to the IMDb, the dude’s from my hometown (Palo Alto, CA) and went to my college (UCLA) and majored in my major (English). That’s more of an FYI than anything.

But I do have to say that his performance in “Spiderman 2” was a little wooden. Not quite “Yonder lies da castle of my fodder”, but it was getting there. The scene right before Dr Doom comes to his balcony to demand tritium, where he’s trying to convey his anguish over his father’s death, showed that he wasn’t quite ready to carry a scene alone. (Admittedly, a difficult task.)

He’s good-looking enough to be the Next Big Thing; it will be interesting to see how well “Annapolis” does, since it looks like he’s the lead. Too bad, since the movie looks like a warmed-over “Top Gun” remake. Note to whomever made the movie: if you’re going to use a cliche like “hotshot Navy guy hits on hot woman at bar, then finds out he will be serving under her (he-he)”, DON’T PUT THAT SCENE IN THE FRICKING TRAILER.

haha- I guess, I didn’t really see that much “Top Gun” in the trailer. I loved Top Gun, so that wouldn’t be bad…but TG was so much about the flying aspect things and I got the impression that this was more about what it takes to get through the Naval Academy.

Also, it sounds like Franco was stalking you or your were stalking him, dude…same home town…same college(??)…whoa.

Go rent Sonny. He plays a man-whore. He gets naked. A lot.

Besides the ‘HNGHOHWAB,TFOHWBSUH (he-he)’ issue that I brought up, it also seems to have borrowed/ripped off the “white guy survives a tough black drill sergeant” motif from An Officer and a Gentleman.

Or maybe I’m taking a little too much out of a three-minute trailer. I should probably just wait to see the flick.

I’m nine years older than him. He’s stalking me!

Hey there- sorry i have been so long to respond…get a grip right??

But anyway, I saw the movie and it is a lot like an Officer and a Gentleman (which I loved anyway, so complaints in that dept.) - but it was a lot more action packed and less romantically-focused that OG. There were some really good and intense boxing scenes as well that I never expected.

Here are some clips in case you want to check them out…
