He was a character, to be sure. During a good portion of my childhood we would spend at least a week each summer in Montauk and the day wasn’t complete until you went to the harbor each afternoon to see what Mundus had dragged in from the deep. One year he had a great white that was close to 2000 pounds hanging from a cargo net held up by a crane. Very impressive- both the size of the fish and the stench that was coming from it.
Not that I’d wish him or his family ill, but geez, with shark populations crashing worldwide, we could surely use fewer famous shark fishermen.
