Fred And Barney Sell Beer

And what beer do they sell?

Busch Beer

See link for answer

From You Tube

So what do you all think? Is this an acceptable product to sell?

Does it make you like them more or less?

And yes, I know it was for a promotional video not intended for the public but the company private use. Leeked only some 50 years later

Along with Winston Cigs.

It was a different time. It wouldn’t have fazed me to see the Flintstones in a beer commercial, any more than those cartoon bears hawking Hamm’s.

Cartoons are not solely kid material; Barney and Fred hawking beer was no different from a character from any of the 60s sitcoms doing it.

The assumption that cartoons and comics are just for kids is balderdash of the most dangerous sort.

You do know Fred and Barney also used to hawk Winston Cigarettes? Winston, in fact, sponsored “The Flintstones” during its first two seasons before they switched to the more family-friendly Welch’s Grape Juice.

(And I look down and see MadTheSwine mentioned Winston Cigarettes before I did.)

The Flintstones was not originally a Saturday morning or after-school cartoon; It was a prime time sitcom.

Sure, why not?

Thanks, Andylee, that was cool.

My favorite part of the video is that drinking beer makes a magic disembodied hand pat you on the head while a soothing woman’s voice tells you she’ll make it all better.

Beer! Making sucky lives bearable since time immemorial.

that’s far better than some of the Disney and Merrie Melodies cartoons that they won’t show anymore.

Wait, that doesn’t happen for you?

I get Gary Busey.

I should probably stop drinking.

Good gad, man, you need to drink more!
LOTS more.

Next time you go to a bar, make sure you bang your fist on the bar and demand service, and when the bartender asks you what kind of beer you want, throw your arms in the air and shout “any kind, you lunkhead, any kind!”

Ten beers later that hand is pointing at some bikers and saying “Kick those pussies asses! You can take them! Do it!”
