Lighten up already. She’s DEAD ! Is shitting on her now doing anything at all except satisfying your hate?
Brilliant! It came up with something a little apropos under the circumstances – just change the referenced username and you get:
It’s like it knows.
Excellent post/piting. I don’t agree with everything you write, Liberal, but you come up with some gems.
Ironically enough, it probably improves the health of the flowers at her grave site.
I know nothing of Tammy Faye Messner beyond she was married to the disgraced and disgraceful Jim Baker. I just wanted to point out that all I read by this single line is that Jim Baker successfully shielded his wife from his wrongdoing well enough that they could not even get her on an aid and abet - much the same way mob wives are shielded even though they know what is going on. She does get bonus points for not clearing the grand jury stage, but not convicted does not necessarily mean innocent.
*ETA: and wore ridiculous amounts of makeup
I know very little about her life…can someone point me to some references that back up any of what JH is talking about here? How much of any of that is true?
Maybe not. But it damn sure doesn’t mean guilty.
ETA:
Not only not convicted, but not even charged.
The best source is going to be hard to get. It was a Pulitzer Prize winning series of articles by the Charlotte Observer back in the 1980s. There’s Wikipedia, of course, but the article has been challenged. In general, she lived at Tega Cay, a very upscale neighborhood in south Charlotte. I’d compare her standard of living to someone in BelAire. There were indeed some gold-plated bathroom fixtures, and even an air-conditioned dog house. But Tammy Faye spent 100% of her work time on the show. She involved herself in every aspect from directing to casting to choreography to performing. She sang, cooked, preached, and wrote and participated in skits. Jim was involved in none of this. His on air participation was limited to the talk segments, which he often used for fundraising. She knew they were prosperous, but Jim preached a prosperity theology. She believed the testimonials from viewers who said they had been blessed by their gifts to the ministry. But she and Jim spent very little time together other than on-stage. There is absolutely no reason whatsoever to assume that she had any knowledge of Jim’s financial doings. Such an assumption is utterly random and gratuitious.
Sorry, I should have been clearer in my question. I was more curious about the accusations regarding the “habit of marrying bastard men who get convicted of fraud” and the pill-popping.
I may well try to dig up those articles, though.
You are right, and that was what I meant to say, but messed up (it was why I gave bonus points for clearing the grand jury).
Sorry. Yes, she briefly became addicted to prescription tranquilizers during the height of the scandal. And her second husband, Roe Messner, served 3 years for bankruptcy fraud.
Good on you! Few would go to such efforts to alleviate ignorance. You might try calling the Charlotte Observer. They likely have the articles on file. Or they may also be at the Mecklenburg Public Libary. (Most of Charlotte is in Mecklenburg county.)
I can’t say I was ever a fan of Tammy Faye, but my respect for her did increase after The Surreal Life. I haven’t grieved her death but I wouldn’t wish that on anybody. Not even Johnny Dil…no, too easy.
I agree with this.
I’m glad that she is at peace now and the corpse known as Larry King can no longer trot out her wasted skeleton for some more media sensationalism. That last interview was just disturbing to watch. I couldn’t watch it but I was subjected to clips of it every time I turned on the TV.
Oh sorry, forgot we were pitting someone else, not Larry King.
It’s okay to mix the scum all together. King. Phelps. Hildo…
But if we mix them all together won’t we end up with some sort of superscum?
Throw in Ann Coulter and I’m sure you could get the Antichrist.
Note that Johnny Hildo hates Canada, as he’s previously noted, and we haven’t crumbled and shriveled into dust yet. I don’t think Tammy Faye (or her memory) has to worry overmuch.
Or, at the very least, Santorum.
You’re right.
Mix them all together and you do get “santorum” .
You guys need to stop throwing people into this mix - I’m getting a mind picture that might prevent sleeping tonight.
Okay, it’s official now. Phelps will be picketing the memorial.
Warning: PDF.
Guess Hildo will be there, too.
