Fred Willard now the late Fred Willard.

He was 86. Quite a career.

RIP, Fred. Quite a career is right! Loved him as the color commentator in Best In Show.

Also, Amy’s dad on Everybody Loves Raymond.

I liked him in everything I saw him in.

While he had a huge hate club (really?), I was not at all a member of it.

Mr. Hubbard, may you always be ineptly co-hosting local cable UHF variety shows, up there.

Was very good in a lot of movies.

Thanks, Jerry! :o

RIP

Hey, wha’ happened?

First time I saw the guy, he was completely nailing his already-perfected schtick as the Deputy Mayor of Metropolis. Does our city have a lot going for it? Hey, you bet it does! Granted, it’s got its challenges, too; but let me just say this…

[leans in, like there’s an insight he enthusiastically wants to relay]

…it’s nothing Superman can’t handle.

[/Fred Willard, genuinely pleased to have explained that for you]

Not Lieutenant. Hookstratten!

It’s ironic that one of his final TV appearances was the episode of Modern Family where his character dies.

Me and Guest-starring ID showing our age since I remember him from Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Fernwood 2 Night. RIP.

I loved him on Fernwood/America 2 Night.

Both Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel gave him a lot of work on their respective late-night shows; Fred must have done a dozen or more appearances on Kimmel in the year before the “at home” versions of the shows started. He was always reliably funny.

His voice will always be in my head whenever likable-dumb-guys come to mind—he was a master at that specialty.

Heh and Terenti :stuck_out_tongue:

(and kitnap)

I also hope FW’s afterlife will have all the wonderful penis reduction therapy he’s ever wanted.

Remember: Leisure suits cause cancer, and the ban on cyclamates is a Communist plot!

He was the same in everything he did.

Hilarious!

RIP Mr. Willard; you done good.

Loved him in the Christopher Guest movies.

Here’s Fred talking about the Kroffts’ “D.C. Follies”. I see there’s also a video of him talking about “Fernwood 2 Nite”.

There are clips and full episodes of that on Youtube. [URL=“https://youtube.com/watch?v=Xx3WsobHe4Y”]Here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkS4GCxgKdo) is the first episode.

That’s my favourite Fred Willard role (A Mighty Wind).

“I’ve got a very literate reference. I don’t know if you’re familiar with a book about a pirate captain – his name is Moby Dick?”
