Free archive.org music iPhone app

I just googled on a whim…looks like it just came out. Only works on my wife’s iPhone 4 (iOS 5.1.1) not my 3G, but looks well-written nonetheless. The only issue I can see is that it builds your preferences based upon what you have in your library; it doesn’t seem to save any favorites otherwise. I was hearing a tune seconds after selecting a show, which is impressive.

For those not familiar with the archive.org Live Music Archive…it’s predominantly jam band music, but there’s currently 5,208 recorded live concerts - surely you can find something to tickle your eardrum?

Search the AppStore for “Free Music Archive”

Link to list of bands…

Disclaimer: I have no vested interest in this (free) app.

Wow, that is pretty cool. The free Android equivalent is called “Vibe Vault” though I haven’t used it yet.

There’s lots of live shows from a wide variety of bands in there, so if Mixolydian’s mentioning of “jam bands” turned you off, you should probably reconsider and check it out.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Mixolydian, thanks for the mention! This is actually my app. I’ll be adding favorites and more features in a future release. My next version (coming out soon) will imprioive the performance of the “artists i Like section” and hopefully give a “shuffle 100 random songs” button once you select an artist. here’s a direct link to the app on the app store if anyone is interested: Free Music Archive

Neat. I’d intermittently hoped something would show up like this eventually.

by the way, if you have any feature requests, don’t hesitate to post them. I’m always looking for good ideas for the next update!

Welcome to the 'dope, Jordan…great work there. Love the thumbnails.

Much success to you, and thanks.

Installing app as I type!
