Hi all,
Due to unforeseen circumstances I am in temporary possession of a small unwell child. I would like to have some music for her to listen to but nothing I have is appropriate. Does anyone know of a place where I can download some free small kids music (I’m thinking nursery rhymes in the public domain).
Wasn’t able to find music here (though there is a great chance there is some) but I did find several collections of audio stories for children on the Internet Archive.
Do you have iTunes? You can get a lot of kids’ podcasts for free from the iTunes store, including songs and fairy tales.
I don’t have any to recommend, as I just found these the other day and sent instructions for my mom to download some for my niece.
I actually don’t know how to go directly to the “Kids & Family” section of podcasts, but here are the directions I sent to my mom:
Open itunes
At the top, go to Store - Home
At the top right where it says “Search Store” type storynory and hit Enter (this is the name of one podcast for kids)
You’ll see a picture of a frog next to the Storynory podcast. Click on that.
Once you get to the Storynory page, there will be “Breadcrumbs” at the top that say Podcasts > Audio Podcasts > Kids & Family > Wizzard Media > Storynory - Stories for kids. Click on “Kids & Family” in this list.
This will bring you to a list of all of their Kids & Family offerings.
You don’t need an iPod to play stuff from the iTunes store, BTW. Just download stuff into iTunes and play it from your computer.
Dig out your old Peter Paul & Mary albums. Puff the Magic Dragon is a children’s song, but a lot of their harmonies and such may be pleasing to young ears.
